Am i missing something?

Jones could have vacated like Jiri and Jamahal.

Yes because Jones is a pillar of good sportsmanship like those men LOL...

Also how did that turn out for both of those fighters Jon Jones out here playing 4D chess

Stipe is 8-2 in his last 10 fights against top tier competition...he lost to Ngannou aNd Cormier

Aspinall is 9-1 with his best win being Sergei and he lost to Curtis Blaydes (LOL) ... basically wish version of Hw Jones....EDIT: Forgot this was a injury lost .. either way his resume is LIGHT

Please stop buying into the Tom is worthy cuz he has a interim...

These two are not in the same league....Stipe is the harder fight for Jones...based on what weve seen
So you're that intent on trying to knock Aspinall you're using a 15 second fight he lost through injury? Regardless of the edit you're trying too hard here, he's earned his spot fair and square by winning fights.

Stipe is the harder fight? Jesus, maybe there is something you're missing. He's old, retired, not had a fight in years, watch his last fight.

And so? Does that change hes 8-2 in his last 10 agaisnt top competition?

He doesn't deserve a title shot. He was cleanly beaten (not just beaten but unconscious) last time out and has been out of the game for years. Come on. Get real.

I agree with TS that this situation seems very understandable & all this noise is un-necessary. That said, noise is free advertising for Dana & so he's probably loving it.

It sux that the injury has held up the belt for so long, but the division can continue to develop until Jones & Stipe fight.

We've only been waiting for Jon's pecker to heal since last Nov. I would expect we get the announcement soon. The sphere seemz like an epic place to make that fight, but neither are mexican so maybe that doesn't work for UFC Noche.

You have two guys pretty much making it their retirement. Just let them fight. It's unfair to take that fight away from Stipe too.

Are you referring to the fight where he rocked Ngannou seconds before getting himself Koed ...ya ...not sure rewatching that fight helps you a whole lot...

Tom has litterally beat no1 of merit in comparison to Stipe's resume ...years away from the sport at HW doesnt mean shit...its an inactive division with like an average age of 36 i believe....

Hes clearly not retired ...seeing as he wants to fight jones lol..

Also the last young guy Jones fought...he beat in 20 seconds ... U know..the future of the HW division too big for Jones chicken legs...Gane ...

Sorry what? Rewatching that fight doesn’t help me with what?

Well sure, Tom doesn’t have Stipe’s record in comparison, not many people do. Not sure if anyone claimed he did but I didn’t. Years away from the sport means a lot, not sure where you’re getting that from. And at that age if you don’t fight for that long then it’s hardly a wild claim to call it a retirement. Pretty sure Stipe has said words to that effect?

And if anyone ever called Gane the future of the division and too big for Jones take the piss out of them then. I’ve never claimed such bollocks. Not sure you’ve responded to anything I said at all :)

Here's the thing. Copy/pasting the same shitty argument ad nauseum doesn't move the needle, it doesn't change the situation, and pretending Tom is some up and coming schoolboy as opposed to the best HW on the planet holding the interim ie. next fight for the title belt is a pure cope to deflect from the bitchassedness of Jon's current nature. How many times are we gonna do this?

He’s fought like 6 times in the last 8 years
If he was active I wouldn’t give a fuck

The irony of this shit.

Why does it matter what stipe once did if he's clearly not that guy anymore? And all he did was be slightly better than the other champs by beating the record of a whopping 2 defences. So he's the "GOAT" by default on a technicality, because someone has to be. Not because he was anything special.

What does this fight even determine?

Nothing. Shows GOAT is meaningless and its just something Dana can use to spin it to the way he likes, regardless if its true.

No one is saying they cant fight. Just give the title up so the rest of the sport can move on
Both guys are retiring. The title is there so both men can make their PPV points. It's really not a big deal. Aspinall is fighting in July. Jones is not ready until November.

Fuck their PPV points. They dont deserve them over the active fighters. Aspinall would be defending his HW title in July against whoever is healthy and brave enough to face him.

Yea he "rocked" ngannou just like lyoto rocked Jones & MJ rocked khabib.
He looked like shit against DC too. 2 brutal KO losses in 4 fights, 4 years off, and you're saying that doesn't mean anything. Jesus christ. So when do heavyweights start declining?

Why the fuck is everyone having such a hard time with this Jon Jones situation...

Its not hard

Jones was the undefeated LHW champion and king...he moved up to HW and destroyed the last title challenger in Gane in under 20 seconds..the same Gane the last HW champion needed 5 rounds to beat...

Jones then wanted to fight Stipe who was the longest reigning HW champion when you consider number of title defenses... And was champion before Ngannou he even beat Ngannou the first time around...with a clinic of type performance after starting off rough...

Unfortunately Jones got injured and the fight that was signed to happen between Stipe and Jones was sidelined ..

The UFC in haste to save a PPV card decided to make a interim title fight with two random Contenders in which tom aspinall won and won impressively..

With all that said .. Jones is still the real champion and there is absolutely no reason he shouldn't fight Stipe next as arranged before the injury and then fight Tom...Tom is there for unification bout and that will happen for sure for his next fight...however... he's next fight isnt Jones...it cant be ...because the Stipe fight is the fight on the table for both Jones and Stipe...they both want it and both have major historical presence in the sport vs "interim" champion Aspinall...

Quite simply put...Tom Aspinall and his fans need to be quiet for abit as the Grown ups/ Big kids ( Jones and Stipe) are talking and playing first...you dont have the strength of schedule.. opponent or historical dominance to be posturing for a fight ahead of Jones vs Stipe...plus Tom has the golden ticket with the interim title no matter what the dude will be fighting for the real title in his next fight...

It is what it is - Max Holloway would agree..so should you

The answer to your question is hate.

Jones haters want Jones to lose and they know Stipe wont beat Jones and the idea of Jones beating Stipe and riding off into the sunset terrifies them. Aspinall won't beat Jones but hes younger and in his peak so they've convinced themselves Aspinall will win. They can't do that with Stipe. So they are angry.
