I couldn’t really get into Odyssey (despite the fact that I put 30+ hours into it), but I really enjoyed Origins. I put over 50+ hours into it and I’m still not finished. I think I’m going to give Odyssey another chance.
Origins is my favorite too and a full-circle treatment to AC lore – awesome game. Bayek's my dude. Odyssey should have been a standalone property; AC umbrella was transparent cash grab but I have some 80h in it so not meaning to downplay the fun there to be had.

Yea I'm a massive fan of Origins. One of if not the best story in AC games. Watching him and his wife acknowledge that they have to give up on being together for a greater purpose was one of the best scenes I've seen in a video game. I was very impressed by the way they handled that ending. They lost their son and gave up everything to avenge him and then they gave up the last thing they had (each other) to create a better world.

Finally getting into Dark Souls. Bought the trilogy. Playing the first one. This is way harder than Elden Ring and Bloodborne

Its difficulty comes down to QOL changes the series(or Fromsoft formula) oversaw over its run. The original DS is a bit masochistic in that regard. You'll eventually get used to it's slower and more methodical combat, but the boss run backs and lack of fast travel, can be really deflating as well. It's good, but you really have to work for it to click.

Good luck!

I just beat Quelaag with the awesome tits

I couldn't handle Dark Souls 1. I'll admit that I felt great satisfaction when I finally beat a couple bosses, but god damn... it probably wasnt helping that I was playing on a ps3 so having to reload constantly was extra annoying

I'm getting more used to it, now that game has opened up a bit, but that first guy was like Jason Vorhees to me. Just stalking me everywhere. I would hear that horn sound, and be all "Oh' God, it's him...it's HIM!". I eventually got my equipment up to snuff after a bit in that first area, and managed to fight him off and kick him off a cliff(which was SO satisfying), but it was a crazy introduction to that system. Now I'm just going with the flow, and understand how it all works, but that first guy really put me on edge when he appeared. That was a big part of turning me on to this game.
I hated the mercenaries in that game. After awhile they were a constant annoyance and several of them at a time would appear.

When it gets ridiculous, you can always just pay off your bounty. They're entirely optional. I like building it up, though. You can get some crazy battles going, and with healing powers and slow-mo dodges, it never gets too stupid. You always have a chance.

Playing The Evil Within. Scary as hell lol

I love those games. The Evil Within 2 is even better, just not as scary IMO. It's more like Resident Evil 4 meets Silent hill, and that's just perfect. You have lots of environmental hazards you can use to fuck up enemies. I'm really hoping we get part 3 at some point.
Shinji Mikami left Tango though, and he was def one of the big leaders on this franchise, including Resident Evil 4.

Assassins Creed: Odyssey

I vowed to stay away from these games, after "AC:Origins" bored me to tears, but I was struggling to find a meaty single player game that I hadn't already played to death, so against my better judgement I hopped in, and...WOW. I am truly shocked at how good this is. It's "AC:Origins", but way more refined. They knew what they wanted with this game, and that is a fully fledged open world western RPG. They simply didn't fuck around with this one, and it's hard to explain the vast differences between this, and the previous entry, as they are very similar on the surface. Everything from the enemy layouts, to the general exploration, to the customization, to the dialogue options and mission design, just seem to have more thought put into it. It's the AC2 of this reboot series. It doesn't feel generic and confused. It's an RPG through and through, that feels a little bit "Skyrim", and a little bit "Witcher", and just a tiny bit AC, and that is a great thing.

If it didn't have the "Assassins Creed" label, and was just a "Roman Times" RPG, it would've been a breakout hit(I understand it was still highly successful, but you know what I mean). I kind of had to force my way to say I liked the early goings on in "Origins", because I could already feel the Ubi grind and lack of overall polish, but that's not the case here. Unless it totally phones it in past the ten hour mark(very possible), I'm pretty confident in thinking they really nailed it with this game. I'm speechless. I can't believe I like this as much as a do.

Odyssey is awesome, best AC game IMO. I still have the Atlantis DLC to finish, but I was so burnt out by the time I got to it. I put well over a hundred hours in it, with a good chunk messing with their merc/nemesis system, it's so fun!!

The only thing I don't like is how far back the cam goes when you're fighting multiple people. It pulls me out of the immersion a bit.

I was playing Ghost of Tsushima non stop last weekend. Even though it's on PS4 for me, it's still one of the most beautiful games I've ever played, at least lighting/environmental. The combat is pure crack too. I only started Act 2 before having to get back to work and IRL obligations. It will prob take a back set to Jedi Survivor though, can't wait to hop in that. I did about four days worth of work between yesterday and today for that Jedi survivor. Hopefully it's not a framerate mess.

Sloooooowly getting back into games, slowly.

Got the plat for serial cleaner which i got in a sale for £3 a few months ago, and now i've started a new Ice Trap character on PoE for the crucible league. I also installed Horizon FW but i don't want to play too many things at once so i'll wait to play that one.

I'm a few missions into Metro Last Light Redux. It looks and plays a bit better than 2033, but so far the story is lacking compared to its pedecessor. I am still enjoying it, curious to see what happens with the plot.

Finishing up Dead Island 2 and had an absolute blast. I will say that there really isn’t an endgame and it really runs out of steam after the campaign is finished. It opens back up where you can finish side content, but the rewards get pretty lack luster.

I am looking forward to the DLC though as the game ends with a huge amount of story left to tell.

Dead Space Remake.

Now I see why people were so disappointed with Callisto Protocol lol. This game is sick. SO has been out of town and I've been playing at night with the lights out and the volume jacked up. Flew through it in 3 days and am downloading DS 2 right now.

Playing the director’s cut of this 10-year-old apocalyptic sidescroller called Deadlight.

World is zombie-ridden but play is more about traversal and booby-trap navigation. Art style is stylishly film noir, to compare, with strong VA from protag in the vein of a hardened detective trying to find his friends and survive Seattle.

Really cool game that confidently leans into clichés rather than reinventing the wheel (and bungling it); never heard of it before a couple days ago.

I play Odyssey on and off every couple of months usually when I'm in game limbo after beating whatever game I'm currently on. I really like Odyssey but it just is missing something that keeps me hooked to play it all the way through. It's very good and looks great but something about the combat I feel is lacking, it doesn't quite have that satisfying feedback compared to something like Ghost of Tsushima. It's like the equivalent of playing a shooter but the guns don't really feel like they pack a punch if you know what I mean.

I had to also tone down the difficulty as the enemies just being complete damage sponges on the higher difficulties just became way too obnoxious and the endless mercenary spam ended up becoming more of a chore than anything. I am enjoying it a lot more on Normal difficulty. I think my total hours right now is around 45 (Steam says like 65 but i guess i afk'd a lot) and I think main story wise I'm maybe half way through or so. I really have to reign myself in and proceed with the main story as it's too easy to get distracted. I think this game might suffer a bit from having TOO MUCH content. Although I do not think I'd be making that complaint if the combat was more satisfying as I don't really mind gameplay loops that are repetitive as long as the combat is always fun.

Also, the game suddenly decided to have massive freezing issues for me for some reason. I am playing on the same laptop that worked perfectly fine and after taking like 5 or so month break something happened and now the game will suddenly freeze completely for anywhere between 3-10 seconds and then it would just run like normal. I have no idea why and i looked it up and tried to fix but it's still happening. Very annoying and makes me wish I was just playing on console tbh.

Odyssey was the start of AC going more and more action combat and moving away from assassinating people. The combat in these games has never been all that great so I'm not sure why they did that.
