Assassins Creed: Odyssey
I vowed to stay away from these games, after "AC:Origins" bored me to tears, but I was struggling to find a meaty single player game that I hadn't already played to death, so against my better judgement I hopped in, and...WOW. I am truly shocked at how good this is. It's "AC:Origins", but way more refined. They knew what they wanted with this game, and that is a fully fledged open world western RPG. They simply didn't fuck around with this one, and it's hard to explain the vast differences between this, and the previous entry, as they are very similar on the surface. Everything from the enemy layouts, to the general exploration, to the customization, to the dialogue options and mission design, just seem to have more thought put into it. It's the AC2 of this reboot series. It doesn't feel generic and confused. It's an RPG through and through, that feels a little bit "Skyrim", and a little bit "Witcher", and just a tiny bit AC, and that is a great thing.
If it didn't have the "Assassins Creed" label, and was just a "Roman Times" RPG, it would've been a breakout hit(I understand it was still highly successful, but you know what I mean). I kind of had to force my way to say I liked the early goings on in "Origins", because I could already feel the Ubi grind and lack of overall polish, but that's not the case here. Unless it totally phones it in past the ten hour mark(very possible), I'm pretty confident in thinking they really nailed it with this game. I'm speechless. I can't believe I like this as much as a do.
