Always wanted to try this, as it always looked awesome. Well, I can safely say that outside of unlocking all the bros, it's decidedly not very awesome. Good concept, poorly executed. It mostly comes down to the gameplay being a mess. It wants you to go ham, and just destroy everything, but you really can't, because you die in one hit, and 90% of time you'll never know what killed you if you approach it like that. So, since that's not really an option, you kind of just crawl through every generically designed level, methodically taking out the enemies out. Seeing how there isn't much skill or strategy involved, it gets old real quick.

A big positive is that at least all the bros feel unique, and have very distinct power sets. Considering how many different bros there are, it's impressive. It's just too bad they're not in a better game.

I think Broforce might be more meant to play coop. About a year or two ago I played it for one evening with my two buddies that I usually play games like Dark Souls, Bloodborne or Elden Ring with, and iirc with 3 player coop we basically did just go full ham and actually played through something like 30 or 40 levels.

I have no idea if the game has an end or if it’s just never ending procedurally generated levels or what, but to me the really only good thing to say about it was the humorous nods to various 80s and 90s action movie characters, from Rambo to Robocop to Blade to Neo and like three dozen more characters, sticking around to see who we’d get next was really the only motivation to keep going. For $3 or whatever it made for one fun evening but it’s not something I would ever recommend to most people for great gameplay, it’s just worth a bit of a laugh.
 
So I've put in a good chunk of time into Days Gone already as it has hooked me pretty good. So far I'm enjoying this the most of any game I've played in a while. I don't understand the criticism very well.

Pros:
- excellent graphics and it runs seamlessly (zero bugs and crashes I've encountered)
- the story is great. Not too overwhelming, but enough to be interesting and care about the characters and it actually got me a tad emotional at times
- difficulty is pretty spot on. You have to use some strategy, I've died a few times, but never to point of frustration and wanting to quit. it graduates well, at first relying on melee, then moving to guns. It's actually more a shooter and less a survivor game than I would have expected. Now I'm basically making the turn into a rambo
- unlocking the weapons and bike upgrades has been fun
- main missions have good variety
- the map and layout of buildings both interior and exterior is great

Cons:
- side missions are a bit dull
- the gun combat is good but not great, and similarly it's a bit weird how often when I try to climb something (like up a small piece of land) I can't climb but instead roll. Maybe it's because I'm use to Assassin's Creed where you can climb up everything, so not being able to climb a 6 foot "cliff" just feels weird
- the crafting of items (especially health) and repairs is a bit excessive, as is the amount of times you need to get gas for your bike. The mileage is horrible lol. In general I don't like games where you inject health like 5 or more times in combat. Partially because that's not how medicine works lol
- not being able to put guns you found into your lockers. It's forced me to maintain a high end weapon I got on a mission since it seems it will be a while before I can unlock and buy it, so I've been overusing that and not using the crossbow enough

So far, the good is far outweighing the bad as the cons are largely very minor gripes, and I feel the game is on pace for a 9 or above rating for me.

Surprise hit for me. Got the game for $20 and I slowly just played like 1 mission a day because I wasn't really in the mood to play anything but wanted something I could hop into and then get off after about 45 minutes. Next thing I know those 1 mission a day turned into full on 2+ hour gameplay sessions. It slowly builds up the story and characters and overall game play really well.

I got this in my backlog, maybe I'll get around to it after I've finished God of War or The Halo collection. I've been playing the shit out of 7 Days to Die for years now so another high quality spin on the zombie genre could definitely grab me by the nuts

I impulse bought Turbo Overkill the other day. My first impressions are good. It's a cyberpunk themed fps with really fast paced gameplay, upgradeable bioware (You start with a super OP leg mounted chainsaw that encourages you to slide around the floor through groups of enemies), futuristic weapons and a really good looking aesthetic. Very promising. The guns seem somewhat underpowered although they look and feel ok, but they too can be upgraded so I guess they get better
 
Downloaded Stray, Callisto Protocol, and Amnesia: The Bunker. Have been playing 50+ hour games the past several months. So I’m looking forward to a few linear shorter single player campaigns before I get sucked into Baldur’s Gate 3.

Divinity: OS2 is one of my all time favorites so I’m super hyped on Larian developing it and CRPGs are my favorite genre. I’ve ignored all reviews and videos on BG3 before I play through it haha.
 
Just finally finished my run through of the Guardians of The Galaxy story, really enjoyed it, and the way the music worked at times in the story worked well. Just gotta clear up a couple of costumes to collect then i'm done.
 
Played Mass Effect 2, again for like the 10th time total, and now Mass Effect 3 for the 4th time ever with a carry-over save and two unique things happened in the ME3 playthrough -

1. Thane was killed in the ME2 finale so he wasn't dying in ME3 & sacrificed himself during the Cerberus attack on the citadel to that lame ninja. Instead, well... anyone remember Kirahe?

Basically if he survives Vermire in ME1, he first shows up in ME3 during the mission you're rescuing the female Krogan.
And during the Cerberus attack on the citadel when the lame ninja shoots at the Salarian Councelor.... Kirahe appears and takes the bullet and dies. Apparently he had on optic camouflage on while just standing in-between the Councelor and lame ninja and just waited to take a bullet for him, completely silent, and not attacking lame ninja.

Not a big surprise they put so much low effort into that scenario, because to see it Kirahe has to survive ME1, a save was transfered to ME2, Thane doesn't survive ME2, and a save trasfered to ME3... So I bet 1% of all ME3 playthroughs saw this play out.

2. Ashley & Miranda have always been my preferred love interests in ME1 & ME2, and usually break up with one to be with the other at the beginning of ME3.

This time I didn't.

I know breaking up with Miranda triggers her to get killed off at the end of Sanctuary, and I expected her to still get killed off. So also sticking with Ashley triggered the 'love scene' with Miranda at the citadel apartments to be skipped. Shepard just says 'I gotta go' and leaves.

Ironically, immediately after that I meet Ashley in the Citadel commons and she asks Shepard again if they're in a relationship, and the answer is yes. So between that & the skipped love scene I fully expected Miranda to be dead.

Nope, happy to report back that Miranda survived Sanctuary. So this was the first and only time I've romanced Ashley in ME3 and Miranda survived.

Anyway, I think this is the last time for a very long time I'm playing the ME trilogy games. I've played them multiple times over and basically done everything and some of them multiple times.

If its been 10+ years I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Best video game trilogy by a wide margin.
 
Did Battlefield 1 campaign recently. It was excellent. Hard to believe that game is 7 years old cause the graphics still look great.

Also started Days Gone. Been in my library for quite some time. Not sure how long I will play it cause I got bored after a couple hours.

Mostly waiting on Starfield right now
 
Having fun play the Quake 2 remaster on PS5. Been playing through the campaign for the base game on coop with my best friend (who’s not much of an fps guy but he’s tolerating it) and so we’re about 1/3 finished so far. Before calling it a night last night we did three games of deathmatch with some randoms, and I came top 2-3 out of 8 each time, so I’ve “still got it” after like 24 years since my Quake 2 prime days.

Playing a bit it on the Deck, was on sale for like $6 so I picked it up. Not the most optimal but still a lot of fun. All the upgrades are great. Actually looking forward to checking out Quake 64, never played it.
 
Finished the Plat for Guardians Of The Galaxy, shame there's not going to be a follow up. Time to go find something else in the backlog
 
Just picked up "Bomb Rush Cyberfunk" which is a spiritual successor to "Jet Set Radio."

Can't wait to try this out because I have 100% on Jet Set and adored it since it was on the Dreamcast.
 
I am still working on Forbidden West, its a huge game and having moved and changed jobs I havent had the time to play as much as I usually do.

The combat is great, the graphics are amazing, and the lore of the world for the most part is rock solid. A lot of the sidequests are high quality as well, and the main story is okay.

Many of the characters fall firmly into "annoying girl boss" territory however, with most of the men being incompetent, corrupt, crippled, or some combination of the three. Its pervasive enough that I notice it, but not enough to ruin the game. I got it for like 25 bucks, and its definitely worth that.

I'd give it a 8/10, would probably be a 9 or 8.75 without the identity politics. Not really sure what I'm going to play next after this.

Playing this new sidescrolling puzzle platformer on Xbone, it is fun but dammit is it also frustrating as hell
Basically, you're a Goomba from Super Mario Bros and you gotta make it through all these Mario knockoff levels with your terrible underpowered low level NPC skills, fun but frustrating, very addictive also

That happened to me as well, first few hours I wasn't enjoying it at all then it just seemed to click.

A worthy addition to the metroidvania genre.

I played through it when it first came out because I LOVED the dark atmosphere and art style. The sequel looks even better. I look forward to it and also can't wait for you to encounter some upcoming bosses ;)
