Economy WEF Sherbros. What do you think about these comments by Musk on JRE?

It’s the literal definition of one but nobody will go past the title and debate what’s actually said.
Well no it’s not. It only kind of is because of poor management. What it is is like a collective investment that you can draw from after a certain age. It could have been fixed at some point but Republicans have long work to break it so they could then privatize it for profits.

At this point I don’t know how fixable it really is. But then that’s probably beyond any of our abilities to really know. What I do know is I sure as shit don’t trust someone like Elon’s judgement on the topic

....except that a Ponzi Scheme implies bad faith.

I'ts not a Ponzi scheme; that is description given to the stupid plebes to think against their own interest. SS has been around for more than 80 years and helped generations of elderly not to die destitute and in their own filth. The reality is that in order for SS to survive taxes on those that are hoarding all the wealth in this country need to go up...significantly...that is a non starter to Trump and the oligarchs...therefore ponzi scheme

It's not a ponzi scheme by design. The pension funds are underfunded because the political leadership since the 90s has considered that financial obligations to the elderly are expendable and they've been using the money and exchanging it for IOUs. Instead of doing something about all the unfunded liabilities they created the government has resorted to blaming the victims and setting up a narrative that cutting benefits is acceptable. Centrally-controlled government and corporate systems are unreliable partners, never place any money under their care if you can help it.

ponzi scheme Or if you wanted to call it a pyramid scheme I wouldn’t argue much. It may be one we like but it is one. Thanks to democrats aborting everyone and making people believe that having kids was going to lil the planet you no longer have enough people paying in to cover the people drawing from it, which is how it’s a ponzu scheme now. All explained in the video you didn’t watch but are commenting on

what are the alternatives, that don't involve gutting benefits for people who desperately need them?

Even when he specifically said he wouldn't certify the 2020 election? naive...
Do you think Trump would have selected someone as VP that said they would have certified the 2020 election? He never would have. Anyone with vice presidential aspirations had no choice but give that answer or lose the job. People with presidential aspirations tend to be very driven and willing to do anything to obtain that power. Like lie... or possibly sell out the American people.

Look, I didn't vote for him. I never have, never will, and if they find a way to run him a third term I'll join in on the protests.

Raising the retirement age would be one thing that I could agree with. But to get rid of it would be insane.

Musk may be an extremely powerful man but he is a terrible speaker, not eloquent at all, not even particularly coherent, and despite his clout, I am not sure that I like him being on Team Conservative, and I say that as a conservative.

And BTW that edgelord comment about the ponzi scheme is juvenile. Everywhere in the world with some sort of social system we don‘t know how the fuck we are going to fund social security because the active to retirees ratio is droppinh very fast and in 10 to 20 years it‘s going to become the nastiest political topic.

Not sure why everyone thinks Musk is such a messiah for addressing this.

Nailed it.

What's wacky is this guy says it like he's the first person in the world to think it.

Maybe it's because he's so poor of an orator, and it coincidentally makes him sound like he's working through it the first time himself.

The Ponzi scheme comment is the pits though.

While I wouldn't worry about what he's saying in isolation, nobody can deflect from the fact that he's saying this while supposedly plotting ways to improve governmental efficiency under massive pressure.

You can't write off the possibility of him announcing something monumentally stupid, and I think you're right to not want this guy on your team.

Yeah imagine how shitty he conveyed his thoughts if even Rogan of all people was like mmmmkay

BTW this is one illustration why USA is fucked imo. Both teams suck ass. Democrats are full retards with the progressive agenda, Republicains are full retards on everything else.

Republicans are supposed to be the safe economic option, that's the rough bit.

As a leftist you can sometimes take consolation in that while the bottom rung will invariably suffer after a right wing landslide, generically the economy will be okay.

But with this government... I'm not sure how anyone could feel that way. Meme politics and government cuts isn't a good pairing imo.

I agree that it fits the description of a Ponzi scheme where you take money from people and then use it to pay other people. With that said, what separates the two is that a Ponzi scheme is a criminal action whereas social security is kind of an understood process.

Please tell me that they are not considering ending social security. That would make millions destitute and make more homeless people.
The difference is it's not illegal because it's the government doing it?

When social security started, there were 44 workers for every retiree and the life expectancy was like 61, then boomers started retiring in the late 90s, people stopped having kids and we're now at 3 workers for every retiree, and people are on it for like 15-20 years now.

Over 65 are also the richest age group, so the options are to drastically increase how much they take from paychecks from the poorest age group to give to the richest, or they can increase the retirement age and take off the millionaires who don't need it, or we just sit and wait until the whole country is bankrupt and nobody gets anything.

Also, seeing the manner in which Elon makes thoughts become words. I have no fucking clue how Daddy T is able to have the patience to deal with him.
