Media UPDATED - Video: Dricus looking big and powerful in training ahead of UFC 319

There’s a good chance this turns into a one sided beatdown.

I’m not a DDP fan.

But there’s no denying. The guy is a complete fighter. I won’t be shocked if Chimaev comes out of this looking like an absolute bum.

Looks like Incredible Hulk version of Georges
His movement in the cage is reminiscent of GSP (another fighter I don’t care for).

Khamzat is a cooler fighter IMO, but he’s staring down an opponent who’s on an entirely different level here.

DDP not only has technique, power, and speed, but he’s also got a borderline “drunken” style that fucks up the rhythm of a normal fight. People call it ‘awkward’, but it’s 100% intentional.

Preparing to fight a guy like that has got to be difficult. Who do you even bring in for sparring?

Yeah, it is totally useless and pointless. There is nothing you can gain from wasting so much time arguing with Khamzat loyalists. The fight is going to go the way the fight is going to go. People are trying to convince themselves more than they are trying to convince others of convenient opinions that favor their own narrative.

I made the chimaev nuthugger quit...He gave me the "I give up" emoji <lmao>

I'm sure Roberto Soldic could beat him again... LOL

Merab lost his first two UFC fights. Doesn't matter.

Dricus knocked Soldic out in the first fight. The 2nd fight, he had said his preparation was all wrong and he got knocked out in addition to him having difficulties cutting weight to welterweight.

Dricus never fought at 170 lbs after that and now he is way too big to be anything less than middleweight. He cuts 30 - 40 lbs going from 224 - 231 lbs off-season to 185 lbs and then rehydrates. If the fight happened at middleweight, Dricus would destroy Soldic since he is just way too big at that class. Soldic is a natural welterweight. Average height and bone structure with a good muscular build.

This is what Dricus did to Soldic in the first fight at welterweight. He would rag doll Soldic if the fight to ever happen at middleweight.

This is purely projection.

I have nothing against DDP.
He's my second favorite MW.

You on the other hand seem to really, really not like Khamzat, which makes you melt down and make arguments that doesn't make sense and then you refuse to admit when you're proven wrong, which you pretty much always are when we debate.

You claimed Khamzat had 30 lbs on Burns, which I proved wrong in about 4 different ways, yet you then asked for official fight night weight numbers, knowing they don't exist for every event.

You even lied about your Whittaker-Khamzat prediction to support your argument, then doubled down even after you were proven wrong.

It's interesting from a psychological standpoint, it's like your brain refuses to see/acknowledge/admit anything that goes against your worldview.

I've stayed up late to watch every DDP-fight live, starting from his UFC-debut.
Just as I've watched every Khamzat-fight in the UFC.

I've rooted for him in every fight, until this one, and even in this I will be more impressed than sad if he actually wins.

He was already putting on weight for the Strickland rematch as he assumed he was going to be facing Khamzat instead of Sean again. DDP and his team have been gameplanning specifically for Khamzat for the last 8 months. Will be a barnburner.

<36>

With the focus on grappling and strongman/powerlifting regimen Dricus had for this fight, he is definitely much bigger than he has been before while being more shredded.

Here are some pictures of him from this training camp doing brutal tension over time exercises with very heavy weights.

Doing farmer's walk with 110+ KG ( 10 KG x 8 + 15 KG x 2 beams), which is 242 lbs. He walks around the gym with this weight. Switches direction and then walks back multiple times. Time under tension is the principle. This is to build grip strength, fatigue/burning in the shoulders, back and forearms in order to build tolerance for pain.

That ball is 50 KG, which is 105 lbs. He is doing the same thing. Walking around the gym with his arm folded and the ball resting on his arms. Principle is the same. Burning, fatigue, high volume for time under tension. The longer the time under tension, the stronger the high-twitch muscles gets.

For lower back and hips strength that is critical in grappling, he was doing lots of very heavy deadlifts. This is 450+ lbs easily.

Damn ddp looks great and fast there
But like it's not hand speed. Some how it's a combination of lots of actions that get him from there to on target, despite looking awkward.

Why are people pretending that burns is mw size in this thread lol
Why are people laughing at the thought of Burns weighing like a normal WW at fight night?

He admittedly walked round 188-190 lbs as a LW, and admittedly fought at 180-182 lbs as a LW, having a horrible time making weight.

He evidently weighed in at 203.2 lbs in a grappling match 3 months before a WW-fight, a year before the Khamzat-fight.

A year after that fight there's a quote of him warning Conor not to go up to WW since "We are all lean and mean at around 190 lbs", that Conor is too small.

Khamzat weighed in at 198 lbs with jeans and shoes on when wrestling Hermansson 3 weeks after making weight at WW.

Yet people laugh me out of the building for claiming he was within 5 lbs of Khamzat, who was 189 lbs at fight night.
That's the same weight as JDM.

All because people want to laugh at "former LW" scoring a knockdown on Khamzat.

We even had one genius engineer claiming Khamzat was 30-40 lbs heavier than Burns.

First pic, grappling at 203 lbs.
Second pic, fighting at WW.

It probably matters a helluva lot less when the gameplan is "Shoot for inevitable takedown. Smash. Hunt for sub or keep smashing."

The odds of Khamzat having to "figure out" DDP's weird "drunken" striking style aren't high. If he's at that point, he's sort of already in DDP's world and at big disadvantage. Barring an (unlikely) early standing KO from one of them, the fight will boil down to:

A) can DDP survive Khamzat's early frenetic grappling onslaught

and

B) If he does, can Khamzat manage his energy and continue to win the fight via grappling as it goes on or will he fade enough to allow DDP to take over?

Another video published today that is in the original post.

meanwhile commiezat goes to war with bloated lightweights and bloated welterweights at most if they aren't cans. Even whittiker technically is another bloated Welterweight.

DDP will be the first non can natural Middleweight commiezat has ever fought. The last actual MW he fought was some tomato called like... Meerkat-Shart or something. i Think it was this guy right
