I have no problem with a Western journalist interviewing Putin. However, I object to Putin getting to cherrypick someone who is most likely not going to challenge him or ask any critical questions. Putin is going to use this as a propaganda opportunity to influence the American public and Tucker Carlson will most likely be content to sit back and let him do that.

It was already proven he was handpicked - they have turned down other interview requests. Peskov literally said they purposefully picked Tucker over anyone else who has requested. He is a friend of the Kremlin, and his work is widely circulated throughout Russian state-run media.

Tucker has every right not only to interview him but to conduct it in the manner in which he sees fit. That isn't really an accurate take on these quotes.

This dude actually said the opposite of what you insinuated. It's pretty plainly stated that he thinks Tucker is less full of shit than the other outlets they won't bother interviewing with. Russian's also just speak bluntly when correcting the record (interview requests), it isn't a 'gotcha' like it is in America. Journalists usually are handpicked for these types of interviews. They don't just give anybody access. Whether it's Tucker Carlson or Barbara Walters, they are handpicked by the regime.
