Hardly anyone except for the most gullible thinks he's actually innocent. His guilt was part of the appeal.

What amount of soul searching do you need to figure that no one cares about policy and it's all about optics, and apparently the people want someone like Trump. They want demons attacking Tucker in the night, they want the richest guy in the world buying twitter, 'trolling' and going 'DARK MAGA', they want to a highly conservative and fundamentalist SCOTUS, they want Trump comitting crimes with a smirk on his face. They applaud him when he says he admires dictators and wants to be one. They want a martyr and they want an enemy so they don't have to think about complicated stuff. All pretenses are practically gone and some point you just have to concede that the electorate are morons.

Unfortunately, Democrats don't have the luxury of calling a spade a spade and they will have to somehow regroup. I know I couldn't do it. I legitimately feel bad for the Americans who wants to address real issues and has to deal with this freakshow for another four years.

That's ironic because in one of the threads I quoted in my first post above, when Biden's replacement was being considered, there was this exchange.

I think so too, but the Dems have fucked themselves having Harris as VP. I said this in another thread, but after choosing her to be the first African American, woman VP, if Biden bows out and they kick her to the curb it looks terrible, optics-wise.

Best thing that can be done is have Biden give a speech to the nation detailing his life of public service, all the things he accomplished, and how he wishes he could do more if age and health hadn’t caught up to him—then resign. Let Harris become the first black, woman Pres, steal the media momentum back from Trump, and put Kelly as VP to balance out the ticket for the voters Biden was losing.

Who gives a fuck about optics? That shit is why the Dems are in disarray while the Republicans are cohered around a strong, unyielding leader.

That's what the President is: a leader. Pick a fucking leader. Kamala isn't a leader. And people know that. That's why people don't want her. The polls are as clear on this as they are on Biden. You want to win? You want battleground states? Get someone like Mark Kelly or Wes Moore in there.

I’m backing the idea of Mark Kelly for VP for the exact reasons you described. He doesn’t have to be top of the ticket.

Dems have been losing ground with some African American voters for awhile, but black women have largely remained supportive. A survey that just came out 2 days ago shows 64% of black women are backing Biden. One of the main criteria Biden touted in picking a VP in 2020 is that he claimed he wanted someone that could “become president at a moment’s notice.” Now that time has arrived, you think we could keep Kamala in the #2 spot, or somehow boot her off the ticket entirely, and not suffer massive blowback? That ship has sailed, I don’t see it.

And btw, I don’t think the polls are super clear. Harris is not polling badly, considering we haven’t seen her at the top of the ticket yet and we are in the aftermath of the assassination attempt on Trump.

If you can think of an organized way to do this without having a disunited clusterfuck of a convention, and losing massive ground with African Americans, I’m all ears. I don’t see how it’s possible at this point.

Let other politicians learn from this experience. If you lose an election, don't give up. You can turn things around.

Try to overthrow the election, have your home raided by the FBI, get charged with 100 felonies (found guilty of all the ones that went to trial), face hundreds of millions in fines for business fraud, tens of millions in fines for sexual assault and defamation, filing frivolous lawsuits, contempt of court, and violating gag orders.
