Tom Aspinall Trolls UFC for Stagnation in Career

Waiting many months for a Jon Jones fight that would never happen was a mistake. Time to pursue alternatives, even if unwillingly.

are you responsible for your career or someone else?
you’re being intellectually dishonest with this question. There are clearly obvious nuances that complicate things. For example, in an essence I am in control of my career choices, but what if the company I worked for went bankrupt and I get released?

How could you look at me and say “you should just take responsibility for your career and things would be different…”

That question doesn’t really make sense does it?
I have no control over the legal process in that scenario.

Tom was waiting for Jon and now that Jon is retired Tom will fight soon. Can’t really blame Tom for Jon Jones ducking him.

Maybe Tom should stop ducking real competitors while trying to fight 350mil years old fossilized Jonathan Rex
What if up until the retirement news, they were only offering Tom the Jon Jones fight? He can’t say “no give me another contender” if that’s the fight in the table.

Tom is going to fight Gane soon watch

I posted a quote on the previous page from a recent interview, where Tom flat out says he has a fight, an opponent and a location done. He's just not allowed to announce it yet. The entire thread is based off of Tom wondering why the UFC are waiting to do so. Frankly, I'm wondering myself.
Ah, sorry I missed that. Then that sucks that he has both and they won't let him announce his fight.

You may as well be asking a cactus plant to explain string theory to you, dude.

you could go work for another company in your example

you don't have to sit around and whine about it for a year like Tom

LMFAO and do you think Aspinall can just "go work for another company"?

FFS dude...it's time to eject.

I believe per standard UFC contracts they have to offer 3 fights per year? Not sure exactly how many. So either they aren't offering fights, which would be a breach of contract, or he's turning them down. I doubt that they don't want their HW champion fighting, sooooo
He is doing big business and catering to his relationship with the UFC. He also got like 200k to be the back up for Stipe Jones. And his name value increased by 10 000 % while this Jonws debacle went down. And he is the official champ now without fighting Jon for it. His next fight is a PPV main event for Champion money and %. Getting rich without getting hurt. He just needs big fights. No reason to randomly fight at this stage. The UFC tried to get Jon to change his mind and to fight, he cooperated. Imagine at the hight of this he goes online to demand a fight, while there was a possibility of Jon Tom. He wasn't the champ.

I just hope now Tom is free from Jones we can actually get a HW champ that fights more than 1x a year. Tom normally fights 2x a year, but hasn't done that since 2023.

We know why.

Assuming no injuries I'd expect a MINIMUM of 3 HW championship fights by the end of 2026. That's the basement. I think if Aspinall gets a couple more quick finishes taking no damage by spring of '26, we could see 4 HW title fights by the end of 2026.

I hope you are right. I was so thrilled when Ngannou was going to be champ because he was taking guys out left and right, DC/Stipe took 3 years for the trilogy, was sick of waiting. Then we knew what happened. If Aspinall gets past Gane and Almeida, it's almost free title defenses. I could see him even wanting to fight more than the UFC will let him.

With that scenario in mind:

me working for another company after the company releases me = Tom fighting someone else once Jon retires.

it’s pretty well documented that Jon Jones was given preferential treatment by the UFC in the form of preserving the Stipe fight in hopes he would fight Aspinall. Tom fighting Sergei WAS him fighting someone else, but once the Stipe fight was concluded, the UFC ONLY offered Tom the Jon fight. Also, the UFC vehemently denied Jon’s request to cherry pick Alex P.

The UFC wanted Tom to fight Jon, and that’s all they offered him up until the retirement news.

It’s literally been the #1 MMA story outside of Ilia’s potential GOAT run. It’s all out there bud

No reason the same night they finally announced Jon vacated the belt they didn't announce who Aspinal would be fighting for the unified title.

Jon or not, I strongly predict the UFC will fumble Tom's career. His best bet is fighting out his contract and using his name to get a boxing money fight.

Who books the fights and offers contracts?
Chael Sonnen

It's been the year he sat out begging Jonny to bless him instead of destroying the rest. Mr I wanna fight three times a year sat on the sides and cried for a year. Now he's saying I'll be rusty and it's their fault.
Everyone is laughing at you not with you.

Just realized how much of a pos Jones is and selfish but Dana and co apparently allowed it Jones knows he didn't want to face Tom
