you’re being intellectually dishonest with this question. There are clearly obvious nuances that complicate things. For example, in an essence I am in control of my career choices, but what if the company I worked for went bankrupt and I get released?are you responsible for your career or someone else?
What if up until the retirement news, they were only offering Tom the Jon Jones fight? He can’t say “no give me another contender” if that’s the fight in the table.Maybe Tom should stop ducking real competitors while trying to fight 350mil years old fossilized Jonathan Rex
Dana said he was going to be financially compensating Tom for having him sat out for so long while they were trying to make the Jones fight. It's confirmed he was paid $200k to be the back up for Stipe Jon, I wouldn't be surprised if they slipped him some skrilla between his last fight and now.
Ah, sorry I missed that. Then that sucks that he has both and they won't let him announce his fight.I posted a quote on the previous page from a recent interview, where Tom flat out says he has a fight, an opponent and a location done. He's just not allowed to announce it yet. The entire thread is based off of Tom wondering why the UFC are waiting to do so. Frankly, I'm wondering myself.

How could you look at me and say “you should just take responsibility for your career and things would be different…”
That question doesn’t really make sense does it?
I have no control over the legal process in that scenario.
Tom was waiting for Jon and now that Jon is retired Tom will fight soon. Can’t really blame Tom for Jon Jones ducking him.

you don't have to sit around and whine about it for a year like Tom
He is doing big business and catering to his relationship with the UFC. He also got like 200k to be the back up for Stipe Jones. And his name value increased by 10 000 % while this Jonws debacle went down. And he is the official champ now without fighting Jon for it. His next fight is a PPV main event for Champion money and %. Getting rich without getting hurt. He just needs big fights. No reason to randomly fight at this stage. The UFC tried to get Jon to change his mind and to fight, he cooperated. Imagine at the hight of this he goes online to demand a fight, while there was a possibility of Jon Tom. He wasn't the champ.I believe per standard UFC contracts they have to offer 3 fights per year? Not sure exactly how many. So either they aren't offering fights, which would be a breach of contract, or he's turning them down. I doubt that they don't want their HW champion fighting, sooooo
I just hope now Tom is free from Jones we can actually get a HW champ that fights more than 1x a year. Tom normally fights 2x a year, but hasn't done that since 2023.
I hope you are right. I was so thrilled when Ngannou was going to be champ because he was taking guys out left and right, DC/Stipe took 3 years for the trilogy, was sick of waiting. Then we knew what happened. If Aspinall gets past Gane and Almeida, it's almost free title defenses. I could see him even wanting to fight more than the UFC will let him.We know why.
Assuming no injuries I'd expect a MINIMUM of 3 HW championship fights by the end of 2026. That's the basement. I think if Aspinall gets a couple more quick finishes taking no damage by spring of '26, we could see 4 HW title fights by the end of 2026.

Who books the fights and offers contracts?
Aussies and a modicum of intelligence?Come on mate, you've got to be realistic about these things.
Everyone is laughing at you not with you. It's been the year he sat out begging Jonny to bless him instead of destroying the rest. Mr I wanna fight three times a year sat on the sides and cried for a year. Now he's saying I'll be rusty and it's their fault.
