Tom Aspinall Trolls UFC for Stagnation in Career

It's confirmed he was paid $200k to be the back up for Stipe Jon, I wouldn't be surprised if they slipped him some skrilla between his last fight and now.

Forgot about that. He weighed in and all that? Wonder if that counts as a fight offer or not. Would be interesting from a contract POV

Then you just aren't very bright. At all.
Reading any of his posts makes you wonder if he's ever even been sneezed on by a person with a 3 digit IQ

I believe I read about a past case where that was stated it was considered a fight offer, but I think it was all secondhand reporting, or straight from the fighter who, let's be honest, are people who hardly ever understand their own contracts

are you responsible for your career or someone else?
Usually, if my boss doesn't assign me a project, I can't just start doing it anyway.

If I did, a raise ain't exactly the expected result

From my point of view, since he was required to make weight and stay sober until the main event actually started and he was paid for it, it sure sounds like it would be a fight offer, which if so is good news for Tom.

It is always someone else's fault that Tom does not have a fight ready to go.

??? The man has defended his Interim belt while the "Champ" fought Stipe coming out of retirement. He's under no obligation to risk losing his belt/shot at the real belt because the actual champ (read: paper champ) was ducking him and the UFC brass didn't make the real champ defend his title against the Interim champ, who already defending his friggin interim belt. And . . . you're blaming Tom!?!

Yes...it so far is. Or do you think he can just go to a vending machine and pick a guy and choose the date?
He is the HW champ, there are plenty eager to fight him and he has been dormant long enough. He can pick his time and opponent.

No, he really can't. That's not how it works. He agrees he hasn't fought in too long. But he doesn't get to decide who's next or where or when. He is not in charge. All he can do is sign a bout agreement when it's presented to him.

J. Almeida, Gane, Volkov and Pavlovich should be his next 4 fights, 2 new opponents and 2 rematches with the remaining top HWs. By then some of the new guys should be solid contenders or washed out. The UFC needs main even matches for their almost weekly events and PPVs, so why hold back on booking?
If people who have lots of gold put it all on the market to sell as quickly as possible, instead of trickling it bit by bit, what do you think would happen to the gold, and its price?

He has a fight and a date the UFC just hasnt announced it publicly. Assuming its Vegas in Oct or MSG in Nov. Why UFC hasnt come out publicly just to give everyone clarity on whats going on is stupid. Just announce that he's fighting.

If Gane lands a lucky shot and flatlines this boob...

He's ducking an entire division under the guise of waiting to fight a retired fighter.

So the UFC paid Tom to not fight?

🤔

This thread is wierd.

Are we actually going to act like Tom hasn't been made to wait around for a couple of years for some poseur to finally retire?

Is Tom some unemployed stoner that lives at his mom's house, and his lack of motivation caused him to not fight? Is that really what some people think?

Sometimes this place just puzzles me with bizarre takes that get pulled out of nowhere.

I want to like this guy, and yes he is a big, tough guy, no doubt. But Good God is he a wussy when it comes to taking control of his life. Everyone else is to blame.

He needs to take a course at a British community college, or whatever it's called over there.

How to Take Control of Your Career With Confidence

This is a genius take.

Guy baits and trolls and mocks the "champ" for a year. Says he will retire him one way or the other and be the HW champ.

Does all of it, and is the HW champ and you think he needs to "take control" of his life because he's making some funny videos about not being offered a fight yet.

Love this place!

True, but the problem there is that Pavlovich has only a not-particularly-good puncher's chance, Almeida's best chance is to relentlessly pull guard and hope he can get a submission before being pounded out, and Gane and Volkov's best chances are to pray that Tom's knee explodes again.
Yeah but those odds will be crazy long on the upsets for the gamblers at least. In heavyweight boxing Usyk makes a living fighting everyone 2x with no complaints. Its that or start featuring Aspinall in Fight Circus type matches while a new generation of HWs develop.

Unfortunately the UFC was chasing the dollars of the last Jon Jones fans. Both of them. The UFC let Jones dangle and gaslight everyone. And honestly it's not even clear why. No ESPN+ subscriptions were sold off of that nonsense.
