Sean Brady vs Leon Edwards, why no hype?

Isn't one of these the champion? I don't pay attention to WW anymore, isn't there some dude doing well? Can't remember his name

i don't know lol he definitely doesn't have a whole lot of presence lol.

no woodley sucks straight up lol. it was hilarious people hyping the guy up. he's most definitely not underrated lol. if there's top 10 fighters that was not underated in mma, he would be not in that top 10. he would need another list entirely for himself.

i dont think so. brady doesn't wrestle nothing like those two. they are just faded no matter what happens in this fight.

brady is good for sure. Also, i know for a fact people on here don't rate brady. so i don't think it would make sense for them to do that if that happens.
Ehhh, I wouldn't say he's the best wrestler, wouldn't make top 3 even UFC WW. But stood with Wonderboy in his prime 2 fights in a row and went 1-0-1 and KO'd prime Lawler when he was on his peak run. TDD pretty amazing until he ran into Usman, also he was 37 which is beyond expiration at WW. I don't usually see many think Woodley was the greatest WW here atleast, usually I'm defending him.

He tried to wrestle, but when he could he beat Leon the first match. I think the 2 fights for the title were more Usman losing his main base rather than Leon developing amazing TDD. Probably has to be one of the worst high level trilogies.

I think Usman should hang it up unless it's another fun fight that's fair, like another guy with the same mileage.

Idk, just saying personally for me Leon's so slow, I'd rather see someone resist Brady.

The third fight Leon stuffed a lot of Usman's wrestling but the 2 d fight? Usman ragdolled him basically the whole fight and Leon hit a miracle head kick KO in rd 5. Usman absolutely didn't abandon his wrestling in thag fight, he just stood for a couple minutes in rd 5 and paid the price.

I meant moreso in the 2nd match for Leon taking Usman down, but you're right the wrestling would've won Usman that fight if not the headkick. Damn I wish I was a time traveler and let Usman know what was coming, we would've avoided the Leon "era" and probably Khamzat vs Usman even with weight miss.

I always thought he sucked, no offense. I don't know, his hype when he was a champ was almost Rousey-esque. To me anyways.

I don't think Lawler was on his peak form when he fought Woodley. But I also never rated Lawler much personally. Really, I never ever thought he was much. He couldn't beat Jake Shields in his absolute prime either.

I guess he did kinda hold his own against Wonderboy, I will give him that though.

I'm not trying to shit on the guy though, nor only when he is past his peak. I was singing the same tune at the peak of his powers so to speak.

Usman didn't really lose in the first one because he wasn't a better fighter. Leon just pulled arguably the greatest hail mary kick of all time lol and down went Usman and his prime unfortunately.

Personally, I think Usman is the second greatest fighter we've ever seen at WW.

Well Snoozeman vs Leon Scott, I mean it's pretty close lol. I know Usman did display some power here and there, but the lack of love Usman used to get around here wasn't much better than Leon's lol.

To be fair to Leon, if he actually didn't get ragdolled by Belal, and had some finishes and defense, people might have turned around kinda like they did for Usman when he was a champ.

Neither weren't really most exciting fighters around to say the least during their run lol.

It's pretty easy to find Leon's place on the GOAT WW list.

He doesn't appear on it.
lmao, well Leon before his loss to Belal was looking like he was getting in that conversation let's be fair.

For some, perhaps.

He was objectively never anywhere near GSP territory. A win and two defenses isn't all that special in a class led by someone like GSP.
Nobody is.

But when you beat the second best WW of all time in Usman twice, and he was on some kind of a run, you kinda getting into that territory of not near GSP but still somewhere in the all time discussion.

Turned out to be correct. He's continued to improve.
Meh I don't think it was better version of him. I think he always kinda was what he showed. People just didn't care because it was boring.

His striking looked a little sharper, but same ol' Brady, but more people noticing.

He always had the framework, but I think he has gotten better since the Belal fight. Leon actually has some good specific skills to avoid being dominated with grappling like that which he showed against Colby, Usman, and Belal. I don't think Brady would have been that dominant a few years ago.

It's hard to say, I guess. He basically does the same thing in every single one of his fights.

I do think his striking looked sharper, and working with Din about dnp with control definitely seems to have showed.

The biggest difference I think with Brady is that, Brady's not a wrestler like Usman or Colby. Like they actually wrestle, but Brady times it kinda more like GSP, much poorer version of GSP in a way. He times it well. But what happens is, I think if you can't match his strength, he runs you over. I thought Leon might be able to, but I guess he wasn't big enough.

Also, Brady's top game might be the most suffocating one ever at WW. That control and pressure.

Yeah, that's true most of the time that fighters look similar in their fights. If you look at Wandy's early fights, he looks the same as far as his posture, techniques used, strategy, etc. He just got much better at it later on.

no I don't mean it like that, I don't think he got that much better, it's just that his wins looks much better because of the way it was and who it was against.
