Jonas partnered with former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in 2013, and changed the name of the company to Iron Mike Productions. " After the fall of Acquinity he sold it to Tyson, Tyson then got in trouble for poaching fighters and Iron Mike Productions kind of faded away. While Jonas used the money to start Probox. So after watching the Dana White post fight press conference from the lame UFC last weekend, I think I get it the alliance a bit more now.

Looks like Turki & Saudi are kind of done just burning money. In essence the sports washing honeymoon stage is over.
Looks like Turki wants a realistic self sustainable model. So that's why he's farming out the buisness part to White. Dana claims to be running the business part exclusively.

Also seems they want to focus on creating their own talent first & foremost.

Looks like Turki got tired of dealing with the promoters, the orgs, & the fighters all evenly. & that the whimsical bottomless piggy bank days to get fights done will no longer work for him.

but those guys don't really bring in heavy revenue. i doubt this league will last long if the only top guys they can sign are at 115 and below.

even there, a guy like bam, who has the most star power potential, is already making more money as it is. but if you're looking at someone like the monster, those numbers become laughable compared to what he's currently making.

Agree with some of what he says here but do not think Dana going for top level guys he will be scouring these poor countries for tough guys that will jump at these numbers. He wants to develop his own fighters and get them signed in contracts that will be hard to escape.

Hm...it's hard to really talk about this, at least for me, because I dont actually know what their demographic is.

I think it's certainly possible to make money from the tiny weight classes, though I have no idea if it's Saudi's goal (I reckon it is not). Hypothetically, if they raided all the small guys from Japan, Thailand, and Puerto Rico, they could very plausibly get television deals with those regions that would essentially cover the fighters purses. Japanese fighters have millions of viewers even when it is not Inoue, so there is money there.

Bam only makes a little bit more than what the Saudi's would pay their champion, so you're right that they couldn't really get him. But they could get pretty much all of the people Bam has fought.


This is also only their guarenteed purse, we don't know if there are PPV points or some other type of equivalent bonus.


Again though, I dont really know who they are targetting this to. Is it for the Middle East? If so, it can become something like the British local season. Is it for the States? It'd be difficult to get the best fighters, but having great promoters kind of means you don't need the best fighters, you just need to convince people to care about your fighters.
