Lets be honest. If anyone deserves title shot its Jiri...No Ulberg. Reasons?
Remember when Jiri had the “worst shoulder injury in UFC history”? Jiri refused to cancel fight, Jiri wanted to fight with one arm, they did not allow him...DW and many others was talking like Jiri will be never able to throw properly with that hand again. Jiri gave up his title after they told him that he will most likely out for more than a year. But Jiri came back under 11 months. He made the statement to show everyone it could be done and went to title shot with staph infection, illness and ring rust... otherwise UFC was doing Pereira vs someone else..- Most people would hold title for year meanwhile posting motivational bs on social media and then "cherrypick" opponents. Not Jiri...
It was still good and competitive fight which was controlled by Jiri...untill he got caught due to his mistake and ignorance of gameplan - Never made any excuses, never mentioned staph or illness - His team members had to "secretly" release these things to media, otherwise we wouldn't ever know.
After that Jiri beatens Rakic. As celebration Jiri locked himself in pitch dark room for multiple days (dark therapy). Dude walks out of dark, and first what happends...? UFC hands him a short-notice call: “Wanna fight Pereira?” Jiri’s still half-crazy from sensory deprivation, dealing with staph infection, immune system probably shot. Instead of ducking (like certain hype trains...), he says “yes,” staph be damned. That’s actual warrior mentality...Jiri's mentality...face challenge no matter what.
So first fight with Pereira - basically no camp, they had only few trainings due to many reasons.
Second fight with Pereira - basically 0 of any training...
Now lets talk about mr.Duckberg which had offer for fight in Perth vs Jiri and rather fabricated elbow injury and ducked - saying that he will be unable to fight until November. continues to rejecting fight from June until September and when Jiri signs with Roundtree he instantly heals and signs with Reyes in next two day. So Ulberg instead of fighting #1 contender fight chosed to fight fighter under #5 which had to accept short notice...(lets not forget that after his Jan win he was blasting on press conference how is he ready to face anyone, anyone...)

So next time you see “Ulberg should leapfrog Jiri for Pereira trilogy,” ask yourself who really deserves it and who just shorcuts for gold.
