Jiri vs Pereira 1 will never sit right with me.

You really think that's a safe position for Jiri? Completely dazed and close to being put out, in full mount against the heaviest most explosive hitter with one of the best killer instinct. Very "safe" indeed.

Yes full mount is one of jiris best positions , he always gets out or reverses it. Chances are he would have reverse pereira and ended up ontop like his other fights.

Sounds insane. How about some clear examples.
 
So the first fight was early stoppage but Jiri lost the second fight because of the heavy damage he sustained in the first fight lol.

Sure I want to see Pereira vs Jiri 3, but that stoppage took a lot out of Jiri and took his career off course, but Jiri went through literal killers row to get back to the 3rd fight and i'm all for it.

Those fights with Izzy were not as much of a wash as the ones with Jiri, they were all close and could have all gone to Izzy had he been a tad luckier.

What I will say though is that there were times in the first fight where Jiri had a decent chance of winning.

The UFC definitely told Marc they desperately want AP as champ, first opportunity for anything even remotely close to a TKO/ref called it, TAKE IT!

Marc did just that

It is interesting that Goddard was the one that stopped Izzy vs Potan MMA #1, and that could've gone on. Maybe ended horribly, maybe not.

And then same sort of thing in Poatan vs Jiri.

I really doubt Jiri was going to win regardless, but still.

Bro, that fight was over. He was rocked and fully mounted. Excessive damage was about to follow.

Was the stoppage early? Maybe. Would Jiri have had a chance if the fight continued? Absolutely not.

You can't discuss the first fight in a vacuum. The second fight exists.

Otherwise you could say "Jiri would beat Pereira in a rematch" and that would somehow be a valid point in your arbitrary argument frame. Nonsense.
 
I’d agree with you it’s a bad stoppage, only turning out to be helpful to Jiri’s career. I remember Jiri himself in an interview admitted he’s a bit out at the time of stoppage. That said, I have no doubt Jiri would’ve made it thru if it’s not for the referee and taken more damage like the 2nd fight where he made thru a knockdown with the bell but didn’t really fully recover and get connected with a headkick 1st thing in R2.

This. Jiri has to be ok eating 3 shots for every ONE he lands. Chama is no spring chicken. His chin will crack. Jiri is 29? Jiri can do it, he just needs a solid plan. He can't go toe to toe with Alex in a traditional sense. Alex will simple pick him apart like the last two time. He just needs to come at him wild.
