If you're Ilia, you make every attempt to go for Islam because a win over him at the end of the day, when everyone sits their feet up on their desk and talks about great wins, they'd talk about his win over Islam 100x over a win over Arman, who literally has no momentum, no hype behind him, nothing.
Just a very risky fight for little reward by comparison to Islam, who is just as, if not more dangerous than Arman in every facet of MMA.

Well Paul, that actually IS how it f****** works. If you run through 3 HOF'ers, 2 of which were long time champs, and win 2 belts you've probably gained enough clout to deny a title shot to a guy who pulled out of a title fight during fight week and is currently in the UFC's dog house.

Arman's only wins worth talking about are 2 questionable wins over Charles and Gamrot unless you also include old folk's home people like Dariush. lol Arman has a nice list of fighters but who on it is really worth talking about that he's beaten cleanly?
Dude pulled out of a fight with the champ and hasn't fought since. He literally has no one to blame but himself.

Based on what? Illia can defend himself on the ground and get back to his feet, and on the feet he only needs one good shot. This is a much riskier fight for Arman than for Illia.

Yeah Armans been sitting out since April last year now, i think he needs to fight a top guy to justify his status and reclaim a title shot.contenders can't sit out for over a year and hang on to their spot in line

Let Arman fight Paddy or Gaethje to get some hype going.
UFC gave him a title shot and he pulled out and now hasn't had a win since April 2024 and has no hype behind him.
He needs to re-establish himself because people are forgetting.

Best on best is all I care about. Arman currently has the best case for a title shot in the division as well as being the most challenging fight on paper for the champion. I don’t care he hasn’t fought in a year, I don’t care that he had to pull out of a fight. Nobody has put forth a more compelling case in my opinion. I’d change my mind if somebody else staked a better claim but nobody has.
I, as a fan, do not care about getting a less intriguing fight because it makes more money or because it punishes a fighter. There is zero benefit for me in that. The most compelling, competitive fight is always the best outcome.

I acknowlege that arman is by far the toughest fight for Illa, but rewarding a pullout and 17 month lay off with a title shot is just too much for me, especially when he's been offered fights and turned them down. There needs to be a line somewhere for this. There was no reason to turn down the gamrot fight. That would have been him getting a win back against a top 10 guy in Gamrot, which would have made him the clear as a bell number 1 contender. But he didn't and now it doesn't make sense to give him one off a win against charles.
