Arman Tsarukyan has seemingly accepted that he isn’t getting an immediate title shot.

While Tsarukyan had long been rallying for a lightweight title shot against Ilia Topuria, he has now changed course. “Ahalkalakets” claims Topuria wants to defend his title early next year. Meanwhile, Tsarukyan hasn’t fought since April 2024 and intends to return to action sooner. After a recent discussion with Dana White, Tsarukyan is eyeing a booking at UFC 321 on Oct. 25 or UFC Qatar on Nov. 22. Potential opponents Tsarukyan is looking at are Justin Gaethje, Dan Hooker and Paddy Pimblett. But given a choice, Tsarukyan would prefer Pimblett the most.

“[Topuria] wants to come back in January or February. And I haven’t fought in a long time,” Tsarukyan told Adam Zubayraev. “So I think I’ll need to fight in October or November. And I talked to the boss yesterday. They said maybe they will set up a fight with someone. In Abu Dhabi or in Qatar… Maybe Gaethje, maybe Hooker, maybe Paddy… [most preferably] Paddy.”

Tsarukyan Lost Championship Opportunity in January

While Tsarukyan was originally scheduled to challenge Islam Makhachev for the title this past January, he was forced out with an injury. White expressed his disappointment with Tsarukyan and confirmed that he would be sidelined from the next title fight. When Makhachev vacated the belt, former featherweight champ Topuria won the title against Charles Oliveira, who had lost to Tsarukyan.

While Tsarukyan was also sitting cageside when Topuria won the belt, “El Matador” faced off with Pimblett inside the Octagon. Tsarukyan has since accused the champion of ducking him. Meanwhile, Topuria has categorically refused to fight Tsarukyan before he passes another test, even threatening to vacate the belt if the UFC asks him to.

Although Tsarukyan prefers a matchup against Pimblett, “The Baddy” has repeatedly turned down the proposition, claiming the Russian is a “nobody.” Meanwhile, Gaethje only wants to fight for the title, threatening to retire otherwise. The only one willing to fight Tsarukyan is Hooker, who admits that it's a tough matchup.

But who the fuk are they even going to give it to.

Bro I love Ilia but this is bullsxht match-making.

Volk is 36, Holloway is 33 but has a mileage and Charles is 35. Now you wanna feed him Paddy

Here's a reality check for Paddy (though he did mysteriously climb two spots without fighting):

It could make sense to have them fight for a ts but there's no way the UFC will potentially waste Paddy on Arman. Paddy is a big money fight for Topuria.

Gaethje is also 36 & has major mileage. Paddy at least has momentum & youth, and theoretical grappling threat. It would definitely be interesting if he was able to achieve mount on Topturio.

All in all it should be Arman even with the UFC 311 debacle.

I have a feeling it'll be Gaethje

I don't think a split decision over Olivera warrants you getting offered multiple title shots, he didnt blow his knee out tripping over a wire backstage. He hurt his back doing stupid shit, get back in line

Paddy isn’t outgrappling Arman. I guess theoretically it's possible that Arman throws a kick that gets caught and something weird happens because it is a fight. But overwhelming odds are that Arman dog walks Paddy.

They’ll never feed him Paddy and they want to keep their big new star undefeated. Gaychee will never fight him either. It will be Hooker.

I believe he was talking about Ilia.

No shit, sorry but you dont get to fuck up a title fight and event and just get a redo. You have to go win one and earn it again and fact he turned down Gamrot main event in July wasnt a good look.

Justin is getting next it seems like, they might have promised that to him for 300 stuff and seem to want Paddy to get one more win before his shot. Now its possible they go with Paddy, in all likelyhood Topurias gonna be the first show for this new Paramount/CBS deal and Paddy is biggest name fight to do so that could win out but does feel like it might be Justin.

The question then would be do they do Paddy/Arman? I dont see it, think you'd do Paddy/Hooker giving him the better chance to win and then it leaves Arman with probably Gamrot who he didnt want to fight. If that plays out theres a real chance Topuria fights Justin next, Paddy beats Hooker and wins and gets next after that and Arman could need 2 wins.

But UFC has to figure out who is next first before the rest of the div fights fall into place.

Its all pointing to Justin. Want Arman to earn it again, want Paddy to get one more and Justin could have been promised it for 300 stuff,.

Plus Justin is a name, he's closer to the end and you know the fight will be a banger. If it headlines the first CBS/Paramount show having an exciting banger where Topuria probably knocks him out and looks like a superstar would be a great thing for the promotion.

You right. Same applies imo except Paddy probably gets KO'd standing vs Ilia and grapplefucked vs Arman.

Are they going to make Paddy take out Posh Boy before he gets the shot at Hand Sanitizer Boy? I’d rather see Paddy vs El Chorizo first. Make Arman rematch Gamrot on the early prelims.

Well another thread seems like a poster has solid info its Arman and max next i think they said December. Check the posts though
