They’d certainly prefer to have a sane and reasonable president to deal with in the White House, but you play the cards you’re dealt and they’re playing flattery poker.

Talk of the peace prize is obviously ridiculously premature. The key thing is to achieve a peace which does not embolden Russia towards further aggression in Europe after consolidating and rebuilding after the conflict is over. I have zero trust that Trump has the patience, insight og intelligence to achieve this. However, as much as I absolutely loathe the man, if he actually contributes to a peace which is beneficial to Ukraine, I’ll support his nomination for the peace prize. I live pretty close to several members of the Nobel committee, so I’ll even lobby for it.

I'm not seething but Trump has basically acquiesced to Putin's demands and put the onus on Zelensky to give away 20% of Ukrainian territory. It seems like Biden, or anyone really, could have stopped the Russian aggression if they just gave Putin all the territory he's annexed. And some type of security guarantee for Ukraine isn't going to check his aggression towards the other former Soviet Republics.

But we're up to like 1.5 million deaths depending on which sources you use. Is it worth another million deaths over the next 5 years to get the land back? The whole situation is terrible.

Gave you the like but yes. These deaths are all the result of Putin invading Ukraine and lay at his feet. I guess we'll wait and see how these negotiations go but it seems Trump's camp are the only ones that would rather let Ukraine fall than to provide aid.

It's still hard to say he isn't subservient to Putin and that he isn't more interested in a Nobel than protecting Ukraine's territorial integrity. Allowing Putin this victory will only embolden him to continue his expansionist goals that have already affected various former satellite States either by outright annexation or by propping up dictators that are beholden to him.
