Mike Israetel - sage or egomaniac??

I watch his YouTube clips but overall he seems okay.

Funny guy.

The KB stuff is just goal specific. Are you going to get jacked? No. Super strong? No.

Is it good for mobility, explosiveness and longevity? I’d say so.
Weight is weight. Kettlebells are good for what they are meant to be used for.

Explosive movements like swings and snatches, odd object movements like TGU and side presses and IMO they are far superior to dumbells for overhead pressing exercises.

I have been using them a heap again lately and worked back up to swinging to 32s for high rep sets with short recovery. My ability to explosively kip or bridge re[eatedly has gone through the roof.

I actually have been Benched a couple of times by huge guys I was trying to roll with. Bloody embarrassing.

That said, Ryan will not be using brute strength or a TGU. At his level of skill, he has far more options.
I just let people do it to me and let them gas themselves out. Nothing more satisfying than having a big guy throw his full power at you like that for 1 min and then quit during the roll.
Straight arming and using that to move your hips is different. I have had people throw me across the mat repeatedly. You can only do it so many times if you don't get some down time after.
Haha just keep making them scramble.

I really like windmills tbh

I used to roll with a ex-Powerlifter who had competed at the national level. The first minute or so was horrible, as the guy could rag-doll me all over the mats. Unfortunately for him, he didn't have the stamina to match his strength. After a minute and half, I could have my way with him.

It was a long ninety seconds until he gassed out, though. ;)

Haha yeah. I have trained with some big MMA guys in the past. Similar thing where they are monsters early, but as that cardio starts to go and you just don't go away, they really can start to wilt a bit. You can see why the HW UFC fights can get boring. They are big enough to stall and stay safe, but can't keep repeating attempts to escape once they gas. I have had more big guys quit mid roll or just never come back to training, than little guys the opposite way.

I have used them but never been a massive fan. Nothing wrong with them, it's just a weird movement to do with a weight for me personally.
I just found it gave really good mobility and strength through the weird range of motion. True or not, I feel like weighted movements in those ranges of motion help when you’re in awkward situations.

A similar feeling movement that I prefer is sandbag shouldering. Not as extreme a range of motion, but I feel like you stabilise in the same way without having a big chunk of iron above your head with no way to move.

I prefer sandbag getups over KB TGU also.

Must have only picked up on smug prick videos. Can't watch him and click Do Not Recommend when they pop up. Not a fan of juice boxes telling you how to do it naturally.
Yeah, I do agree. I guess especially after seeing his issues with steroids and all that, his posture of superiority towards others who are working out naturally and achieving solid results seems even more obnoxious than it already did.

Why can't these fitness youtubers just offer their two cents from a position of humility, rather than superiority?

I make it a point to ignore anyone trying to tell me how to live (in all aspects).
I watch people that show me how to build shit, but even that is highly vetted against people I know that know what they're doing.

I think people telling you how to do shit are generally kooks, and really need to be looked at before hearing them out.

Jim Jones was one of those guys, and we all know how that ended sir.
Speaking of which, whatever happened to Gym Jones?

That is all I’ve been doing for 2 months it’s the best. About to fill up my 150# bag

Hell yeah. I have a 40kg (88lb), 70kg ( 155lb) and 90kg (200lb) give or take a few pounds. I haven't been using them much over the last couple months, but I absolutely love training with them.

My bodyweight is around the 170 mark and I love throwing and carrying them all around my yard.

It's still going, but became more like a crossfit cert. They lost the guy that started it and Rob Maximus. They became cheaper and do online programming that is pretty accesible now.

The guy is okay, but people blasting huge amounts of gear are normally almost useless as a source of advice for natties. High volume isolation exercise with full ROM is amazing if you are juicing like crazy, but vastly less effective if you aren’t. Also his humor is dull, and calling yourself doctor so-and-so when your degree is in sport science is true cringe.

That all said, he’s one of the less annoying YouTube guys in fitness, and is reasonably smart.
