Mike Israetel - sage or egomaniac??

Pretty sure it works both ways...

Anyway whats up with that Athlean X dude? He seems pretty popular- he's practically naked in all his videos

Maybe that's y

yea he plays the yt game well

for every "here's why you shouldnt do front squats" he's got a good vid

but by including those big names and adding an element of critiwue he gets views

that's just the yt era we live in

like @mixmastermo said there are other people making content in he same field he would prefer to watch them without the drama
I agree but a lot of great channels like elitefts or Brian alsruhe get pretty low views when Mike can a drop a video I think a thumb nail of his weird ass Mars attacks mug laughing at a celebrity and get a million plus

I don't blame him hats just how he stays on top but if I am watching content to learn he is at the bottom of the list of guys I go to

also I am into powerbuilding so bb stuff is already low on my importance list
After making this thread I did see a few RP vids, as some of you do like the guy and I figured maybe I was being unfair... besides YT keeps recommending his stuff when I log in.

But it got to the point where I just started hate-watching the vids. I really can't stand him at this point. I'm going to stop.

He fell out of favor with the fitness crowd but it doesn't matter since he mastered the algorithm and knows how to promote his stuff. He used to be the youtube guy with some credentials. I think he was the PT for some baseball team. The issue is that he went to school a long time ago and some of his stuff is outdated. People didn't really care since most of his faults can be attributed to fear mongering for certain exercises but it didn't cause any harm. He had this weird scandal with fake weights. People just started piling on him about his natural status and his lack of teaching programming. He is all over place with which exercise is good or bad. He gave out bad cues like breathing out before a squat.

I think he is really good with beginners but it's easy to outgrow him. He isn't good with programming and he often has info that contradict each other. I guess some of it is which exercise is best for whatever or blah blah is killing your gains. Those are like algorithm clickbait titles. The algorithm is weird. I just checked the top ten biggest fitness influencers and I don't know any of them outside of Athlean X and Simeon Panda. I have never seen Simeon Panda outside of people bashing him for being a fake natural but he is incredibly popular. I also have never heard of this guy in my life https://www.instagram.com/thebodycoach/ but he is as big as Dr. Mike.

Not at all. Jeff is a serious guy. He also has a lot of very useful rehab videos. He just lost himself those last few years trying to find the ultimate biceps curl variation with +0,00001% efficiency

One video a week for 14 years will do that to you. I respect the grind tho. Always wanted to do a small YouTube fitness channel but never pulled the trigger

He said when he sees a nice pond with ducks he just sees red now lmao
I believe him, when his testo levels are 20 x elevated. Like why are you doing that to yourself.

You can do one for fun. There is no issue.

I like Dr. Mike's honesty when it comes to his AAS use and his overall common sense / practical approach to nutrition/lifting etc. He does illustrate the problems when he starts venturing into areas outside of his expertise. I take his training advice with a grain of salt since most of it is bodybuilding oriented.

I think he overestimates Bryan Johnson's protocol. The guy looks malnourished and sickly. He has direct lighting or sunlight in most of his videos to reduce his haggardly appearance.

Chemical epigenetic reprogramming is close and if you live in a country with looser drug laws you can buy several drugs and try it already. We know which drugs/substances can trigger such changes in animal models.

Hi, I'm Dr. Mike, I have a Ph. D in Sport Physiology, and I abuse my body with steroids...

That's on the level of "Hi I'm a pulmonologist, come make an appointment with me" while smoking a cigar

i don't think that's a fair comparison
because he is actively trying to compete in a sport where you have to be rocked to the gills to even participate seriously. he at least claims to have had a decade of nasty training under his belt before he ever roided and learned alone before making the decision he has with his supplementation

I'm sure if youtube had different rules he would be even more open.

and he is overall negative of his opinion on roids and people using them

although I agree with you where you said he looks like shit. he looks terrible in an unhealthy way the way he blinks real slow when he is thinking and processing stuff is weird as shit. ever since I noticed it I can't stop seeing it.

I try not to make judgements about choices people make for themselves. My biggest pet peeve though is when they mislead others by omitting important variables like steroid use or cheat other natural competitors.

I appreciate Dr. Mike's honesty and sense of humor. Is he the single best source for all things health and healthy living or even just training? Not by a mile. But he does try his best to discuss the science for why he approaches training the way he does. I don't have a PhD or even know what the hell I am doing half the time and yet I know most of his advice will not work for me. Yet I still glean bits of new information for myself every so often.

Abuse is also a loaded term. You can make the same case for lifting max weights, eating sub optimally, drinking alcohol, running marathons or even ultra marathons, doing various endurance events that risk death or serious injury, etc. I have not used AAS but some of the risks are greatly exaggerated in my opinion.

If you're going to Dr. Mike for lifespan or healthspan advice then you've made the mistake from the start. In the video I posted he acknowledged taking anabolics will likely shorten his life by a few years and he's fine with that. He's likely tracking his blood work and doing what he can do to minimize the risks.

Yeah, lots of doctors and surgeons smoke, drink, etc.

What's your point? Your comment is dumb as fuck.
