Morales vs JDM is great but not fight i wanted . Morales v Garry or Shavat is fight to make if Usman is fighting Mak. Thats a true #1 contender fight. Jdm is far from a title shot

It isn't the best fight, and is obviously only being made because Islam and Usman are managed by the same guy, and they're all pushing for it

Well, I think it's a dam good fight and among the best you can make for a title at WW. I think Usman is the most intriguing and tough match up for Islam at WW right now. The only other guy I would say is up there in terms of a tough style match up and being a top contender is Shavkat, but he's been too inactive

I view this solely as them repaying some sort of debt owed to Ali, who is the real winner of this entire thing. Perhaps if this had been Islam's first matchup at WW I'd had been a bit more receptive, but Ali was able to cut his guy to the front of the line for a title shot, he won, and now he is cutting his other guy to the front of the line to fight him, and Ali is the one who gets the spoils. The whole thing leaves a really bad taste in my mouth, and I'm rarely critical of matchups. The only thing I can do is "vote" by watching or not

An inactive PRIME Shavkat coming off an injury is infinitely more interesting, plus he could probably fight once early 2026 and get back in there by late summer

Sure, however, the one win is his latest fight which is certainly more positive as opposed to losing 3 in a row. And context matters in those fights as well. A pure domination of Leon for nearly 5 rounds ill he let his defense slip, and then two MD losses to Leon and Khamzat (very short notice a division up). And then a pretty clear win. So Usman is still looking pretty good. Usman has only dropped those two title fights at WW in his UFC career.

I love the Shavkat match up myself and always thought that's the fight to make. But he hasn't fought in over a year and prior to that, another year. I think that Usman winning 6 months ago, along with being what many see the second best WW of all time and his legacy is enough to give him the fight.

I think Morales is a very good fight too, but I think he needs another W.

I think a lot of this has to do with giving Islam some big credibility to his WW reign and what better way than to beat the 2nd best WW of all time. I think Islam lacked that in his LW reign and they know this, they want the names on his resume.

I am not too opposed to this even considering there are many other contenders. Shavkat was one fight in two years and hasn't fought since Dec 2024, Garry has a good streak, but lost to top contender Shavkat, Prates lost to Garry, Morales has been great but lacks the top wins IMO. So it's not like there is a really great clear contender at WW, there are some definite good ones, but I think a little more will make em stronger. Shavket gets back with a big W, Garry wins again, Morales knocks off a top guy and Prates does the same.

In the mean time, have Islam beat a guy with a big legacy, who's still very much on top of his game.

Someone made a video about Morales terrible striking, he almost falls down every time he commits to a punch and leaves himself totally open. He'a lucky Brady has the striking skills of CM Punk and has t-rex arms.
