I don't think the role was demanding enough to call it Masterclass. That said he was perfect in it and can't imagine anyone in that role. 9/10. Also he was great in The Rock and Aliens. Should have been a bigger star, I read alcohol was a factor?

God, he's so great in it. For example when he's freaking out at the police station during the video interrogation because he knows what's coming and they won't listen, it gives me chills every time, he's so real in that scene. It's the GOAT performance of that movie cliche of 'something is happening you guys gotta believe me' character. Fantastic work by Biehn

T1 is true to Camerons idea about it a apocalyptic horror sci fi movie with disturbing scenes and no unnecessary emotional "hollywood" interaction. Its gritty and dark but also kinda corny sometimes because the budget wasnt there. Still you see how the movie is the child of everthing the creator wanted it to be.

T2 is a worldwide media event and planned regarding its content in a huge part by the film business in adding the "cool" sidekick, "funny s scenes...etc " that felt more like fan service and celebrating Termi than actual developing the story. Its an action movie for the whole family down to the young teenage boy loosing its message. It was groundbreaking in special effects and T1000 is just incredible impressive done but the movie itself is well just good. . Its still outstanding in technical execution but the immersion and narration is made mass appealing generic.

As a child T2 felt 10x better because of how bombast and visual advanced it is and how it plays out the hollywood storytelling . Now as an adult I rate T1 quite higher. Its the better artistic creation.

Regarding Biehn, he is imo a better action star than the more famous ones because he had a much higher range of characters he could act in one role without compromising it. His influence in Alien 2 is vastly underrated. He made that movie for a lot of visitors as the cornerstone of it.

Kind of like how video games can't rely on just making the game as visually appealing as possible in order to put people into a trance.

Yeah, let's be honest T2 is basically just a remake of T1 with a lot more sizzle and a bit less heart.

I watched T1 in secret as a kid and had nightmares for weeks <lmao> . That was not a family movie. :-)
Imo T2 was at first planned as a worldwide cash cow and it excelled at that. Keeping the dark athmosphere in, that is very much needed for the story , would have prevented that. So he basically sabotaged his own movie putting in "jokes" and light hearted funny scenes with no obvious connection to the movie to mitigate the violence and disturbing topic. By that he completely shot his own movie in the foot but created a feel good buddy story instead of a dystopian action movie it was meant to be.

So I kinda get Cameron. With T2 he was set for life.Art direction was only part of the script.

Imo a good example for T1 is the game Kingdom Come Deliverance that doesnt compromise at all and by that feels immersive and true to the creators ideas. Or the Robocop game also wasnt AAA but so much better that it didnt push a company agenda but a creators idea. These games are still there. For a time I thought I wouldnt go back to video games because tripple A is so lifeless now like Hollywood but other developers jumped in. Its a great time to like video gaming if you ignore the big players.

If you want a little sci fi horror like I can highly recommend "Observer Redux". Rutger Hauers last appaerance before he died. Such an immersive game.

yeah, and PS5's are cheaper and available. Just started Returnal

Never realized that James Cameron used the same storyline for both Rose DeWitt Bukater and Sarah Connor.

1. Young women who fell in love and slept with a homeless man the first time they met.
2. Both homeless men die along with everyone around them.
3. Both women choose to live the rest of their lives dedicated to what the homeless men taught them.
Speaking of homelessness, Beins character steala clothes from a homeless dude after time traveling from an apocalyptic future.... then has sex with Sarah Conner.

...never saw him shower once. SMDH

To be fair,

Kyle came from a time where there were no showers.

Was normal for him… no excuses for Sarah, Sarah’s just dirty.

She never questioned the homeless smell that radiated from Kyle.

Let's not forget that T2 had the GOAT ad campaign

Yeah, so I just started observer last night, pretty much the modern version of Snatcher. Def a good switch up from normal games.
