On one hand Kayla whooped Holms ass. Holm is a perennial top fighter of WBW and still very game and fit. But Kayla whooped that ass and finished her. She seemed... developed

Yet a year or two ago she lost to some girl in WSOF. Can't remember her name. Some Brazilian gal with a pretty seasoned career. So who knows

Vieira is quite big IIRC and strong, so that in itself is a better test than most WMMA fighters. Pacheco isn't exactly special, but she's pretty big and strong. I do think Harrison wins but wouldn't be surprised to see Vieira take her the distance.

Viera isn't going to beat Harrison using the clinch. Harrison doesn't use the clinch much in MMA. She is pretty much female Brock. She shoots doubles. She seems to have a limited gas tank and very little striking. She has a loss in the PFL but that fight was pretty close at 48-47. It's the trilogy between those ladies. I suspect that Kayla just didn't train as hard. The first two fights were blowouts.

Vieira is all over the place in terms of her performances. Vieira is hard to takedown but she never fought a fighter like Harrison. Vieira's best chance is to keep it standing and brawling to a decision. Both ladies aren't good strikers but Vieira is slightly better at it.

Even if the decision was questionable, I got no idea why they didn't immediately jump on giving Ketlen the title shot after the Holly win. When you have a top person who will never win the title but can keep killing contenders, you gotta take advantage when that kind of person loses, but instead they just fed her to further Rocky's streak, and committed to the Nunes - Peña trilogy with a TUF in between. Title shots would have been a lot different if they went with Ketlen then

Maybe if Kayla can get past her she'll deserve to fight Pennington.... after a year or more waiting. This slow burn to title is shitty. Nobody dominate Holms like that ever and we have a weak champion and division.

Calling having to get 2 wins a "slow burn" is just insane to me. She's obviously being skyrocketed into the title scene, but it's still not rocket-y enough for lots of Sherdoggers, and I just don't get it

I don't disagree on any point about Vieira's skills, but I think this is a homicide. Kayla is a horrifying monster in that division.

Unless she slips on a banana peel or doesn't make weight, I don't see how Harrison loses this. She's more credentialed than Ronda in Judo (although I believe Ronda was the more technical Judoka) but unlike Ronda, Kayla doesn't rely only on the clinch - she knows how to MMA wrestle and has a good double leg.

Much like Suarez at 115, she's the uncrowned queen of her division. FFS she's 34 so give her a title shot already and maybe her being champ could entice 36 yo Nunes out of retirement before she's in a retirement home. That's the only interesting fight for Kayla - she mogs every other BW via snu snu.

Ahhh good point, it's been awhile for me to remember. Just seen Holm in so many point decisions lately, forgot about her older fights.

Yeah, but MBS had an unfair advantage with all that Ritalin inside her. Imagine how much easier it would be for all fighters to grab submissions if their levels of focus were artificially enhanced
