Media Jones rejected 30 million offer to fight Aspinall

That actually would make a lot of sense in terms of the reason Dana held out for so long thinking it would happen. Jones was not after fighting Tom (he NEVER intended to fight Tom and never indicated he wanted to), he was simply milking the last of his fame for all it was worth.

It wouldn't surprise me if Dana was confident because the Saudis assured him they would cover the difference (not knowing Jon was just attention seeking and not intending to fight at ANY price).

Jon was never going to let himself be added to Tom's KO highlight reel.

I hope Jones is doing alright, Aspinall is nothing special and Jones is special even in his late 30s, despite his issues. If Jones was interested in the fight and could get motivated for it, he would mulch Aspinall. He's beaten far scarier guys.

Exactly, and that's all it is with these types of people. They want infinite money and power, what they have isn't enough, they need to take from others.
I like you but this is a little absurd right? I think jones is a duck and I do not have him in the GOAT discussion, but I mean he is fighting for money I don’t think it is so much taking from others as just holding on to yours. He is deathly afraid of losing , which has made him a great competitor, but as he ages he will take less and less risks.

I think he sucks as a human but I don’t see anything here that would be any different than other athletes. I mean GSP kind of picked and chose at the end too.

Clown shoes take.

I will admit that you might know something I don't given I don't follow every event like I used to, please direct me to Aspinall giving a dazzling performance. I could have this guy all wrong.

I mean...he has won every fight by finish, all but one in rd 1. He has a speed/power combination that we've maybe never seen. Watch him vs Pavlovich who had been wrecking everyone inside a round until he faced Aspinall. Beautiful 2-1-2 lightning fast counter and Pavlovich was done.

Honestly, every Aspinall performance in the UFC (outside his freak knee injury) has been dazzling. (Maybe Arlovski wasn't "dazzling" but still a rd 2 finish,).

I guess he just reminds me of Stipe in a way, a very good fighter but not a stand out in any way. I guess what I'm saying is who are the killers in that division now and did he decisively beat them? It's more about the division than Aspinall. Which has pretty much been the story of the UFC HW division since forever.

The division is weak...but that's overstated a bit. And you can only beat who's there and do it convingly. And Aspinall sure as hell has done that. There's also the eye test. He's eons faster than Stipe ever was. That's what makes him standout. Most HW's csn hit hard. Aspinall carries that power along with speed you just don't see at HW.

I think Jones has been partying so much, not training, getting f****** wasted, banging hoes and in such bad shape that he knew he was not up for a title fight against a real contender. It must have been hard to turn down that kind of money , knowing that you couldn't hack it at the highest levels anymore . If he was even close to being fit enough to do this, he would have taken this fight. He's lost it. He's out of the game.

For 30 million I would fight Aspinall on my lunch break every day

that way i get to go home early

Jon Jones would take a dive against Glass Joe and CM Punk on the same night for 30 million. Sounds sus.

The Pav fight?

Pav was in his prime at 31 years old, 18-1, had stopped his last six opponents in the first round, weighed in at 260, is pretty fast and athletic for his size and has comparable reach to Jon and Tyson Fury with serious power to go with it. Tom faced him down and ended Pavs six fight RD1 KO streak by RD1 KO'ing him in under 2 mins.

I think you might be the special one mate

I don't like Jon Jones as a person but I'm capable of compartmentalization, he made a statement in rag dolling the LHW division and then not being stopped in the HW division. He beat guys even while coasting into his retirement. This has nothing to do with anything other than his fighting ability. I see that's lost on some these days. I didn't agree with Tyson raping a woman either, is he less of a fighter because of that?
