Media Jon says it's Alex or nothing

His last MW fight is a loss to Adesanya. He did go through solid LHWs, but many contend he hasn't faced a LHW wrestler. My contention is the HW shit with Bones is a farce, he can make LHW tomorrow and would literally slaughter Pereira just as he did Gane.
At this stage in his career he will do whatever he wants. He was booked to fight Stioe long time ago. A deal was negotiated for good
money.

The UFC had no issue with this fight then Tom comes along and everyone saying he should not fight Stipe and fight Tom.

Contracts were signed a long time ago for Jones and Stipe fight: why would Hines say no to 15 million plus. It’s guaranteed money.

Let’s see what they offer Jones to fight Tom.

Alex is more accomplished has won two belts, a bigger name than Tom so this is another option for a big fight.

Well it's either fight grappling threat Jon or grappling threat Ankalaev. One fight is much bigger than the other, especially if it's for the LHW title. If Alex loses, he's right back in another title fight because Jon retires.
Well Ankalaev is claiming he will stand with Alex, which I think he is dumb enough to actually do. We know exactly what Jones is going to do.

At this stage in his career he will do whatever he wants.

Why? He's the greatest of all time so that means he deserves easier stylistic matchups?

Many folks disagree. Some of us want to see him tested by the most difficult challenge, always.

Jones fans seem to think that means we want Jones to lose, which isn't true. But we have to at least try to beat him.

A fight with Poatan isn't nearly as compelling as Aspinall because the path to victory for Jones is so obvious.

If he drops the belt then fine. No reason to call him a duck. If he holds onto it, that's a problem.
I agree. I'm an admitted Jones hater, but he has every right to vacate the belt and cherry pick whatever fights he wants at this point. If he wants to go back down to 205 pounds and fight Alex Pereira for the LHW belt, then he's absolutely earned the right to do so.

But if Jones wants to keep the HW belt, he needs to be forced to respect it and unify the UFC HW titles with Tom Aspinall.

Don't blame Jon, blame the UFC.

The org books fights, not the fighters. He should never been allowed to fight a retired 42 year old coming off a KO loss instead of the #1 contender who is the interim champion. The UFC is in charge of managing rankings and appropriate bookings.

Prize fighters' are wise to make the most money for the least brain damage. Jon is (broadly speaking) a terrible human and PEDS cheat. The UFC enabled him to this point - it is up to them to strip him and let him sit.

In any event, I don't see Poatan taking this fight without a heavyweight belt on the line, so its all nonsense top to bottom.

Eh, I think I have less interest in Jones vs Alex than I did Jones vs Stipe. Alex will not be able to keep the feet standing and will get taken down and choked out inside 2 rounds.

Hard pass.

Yeah but can Alex even make HW within a year and still fight at his peak? I feel like if the Alex/Jones fight happens it needs to happen at 205. Meet in the middle.

Stipe was coming off a KO loss and years of inactivity. He should not be ranked after retiring. It makes no difference the fight with Stipe got delayed half a year, it should never be created in the first place.

Stipe looked like a guy in his mid-40's that hadn't won a fight in half a decade. Fans pay a lot for the product and we are not getting a good deal here. We want to see the best fight the best. Stipe wasn't even second tier at this point, he's not even in the discussion.

Who told you this?

Aspinall beat Arlovski, Spivac, Volkov, Tybura and Pavlovich to win the interim title. He then was forced to defend the interim title which isn't even a thing. He didn't appear out of thin air, he was the top prospect in the division for years.

Jon refused (and the UFC enabled him) to fight the rightful champion. The whole thing is absurd on its face but the UFC is now flatly stating Jon will fight Tom or no one, because even they have limits to how the circus is run.

Alex has a heavyweight record of 0-0-0 and Jon just "defeneded" against a retired 42 year old coming off a horrific KO loss.

Doing more bullshit is bad for the sport, its not going to happen. Jon will retire most likely, he doesn't want to fight the interim champion.

He's gonna negotiate himself out of the Tom fight. He'll say give me 30 mill which UFC isnt gonna do but then he'll say give me a bump in pay from Stipe fight to fight Alex. So if you're UFC its either Jones doesnt fight again, Tom becomes undisputed champ and thats that or you do Jones/Alex and get a massive fight next year. Maybe Jones give up HW title which does devalue that fight not only ducking Tom but Alex not going for 3rd belt but it still would be massive.

The fight with Stipe was signed years ago.

It’s was a done deal Tom didn't have the interim belt when Jones signed to fight Stipe.

Why would Jones say no to 15 million to fight Stipe. Tom was just a contender when this fight was signed.

Tyron Woodley said he wasn't fighting Stephen Thompson multiple times, and we ended up getting that "fight" twice!

No, seriously, HW has like 5 good fighters. There really isn't anything to look forward too in that division regardless.

Jon isn't fighting Tom. Either we get the LHW Goat vs the current LHW champion or we get nothing. You're right though, I am excited to see Alex get a chance to knock out the GOAT.
Brother there's a 0 percent chance of that.

Dana knows Alex likely gets outgrappled and loses in which case his LHW star loses AND his HW star retires. Both his higher divisions get turned to shit in one night. It is the ultimate loss scenario.

On the rare chance they fight it would be at HW. Even then it'd be pretty stupid.

My prediction is Jon does the same exact thing he did vs Francis/Dana turns on him and says he never wanted to fight/Jon retires after a year+ of holding Tom in limbo/Dana has a belt walk from this joke division for the 2nd time in the last few years. On Dana's good-side, all the PR accounts here instantly become Jon haters and say he was terrified of Tom all along.

Alex had a couple cherry picked fights in MMA. He didn't really solidify himself at MW, and jumped the line at LHW. He is the LHW champ, but Jones could beat him now while he's still lit up from partying. Jones fought at heavyweight today and could make LHW tomorrow if he wanted to. He weighed in at 238 ffs.
Epic white belting here dog
