Alex had a couple cherry picked fights in MMA. He didn't really solidify himself at MW, and jumped the line at LHW. He is the LHW champ, but Jones could beat him now while he's still lit up from partying. Jones fought at heavyweight today and could make LHW tomorrow if he wanted

He beat Adesanay and took the belt at Middleweight, the first to beat Adesanya at Middleweight. He also ko’d Strickland at Middleweight which was pretty impressive.

tom is an interim champ with no title defense run and we are talking about who the goat will fight next. people need to recognize what they are actually saying when they suggest tom. sure tom could beat jon. I'm sure a lot of young up and coming hws have a chance to ko jon. see? tom vs jon to me is more of a tyson paul sceanrio. young up and comer getting a fight he has not earned so they can continue to dump money into marketing him as their next star.

jon vs stipe made sense because stipe was condiered the hw goat of the ufc and had not retired yet and has aged well.
he beat the hw goat.

why fight an iterim champ with no defenses or some other contender. vacate and fight alex is the only fight that makes sense to me. similar age and size. alex has better accolades than most. hes the lhw champ- the division jon is the goat of . big fight. its not a case of jon going oh well stipe is old i can win this ill do this. and its not a case of jon going well alex has more weak points in his game ill go in that direction. its about their accolades and accomplishments and jon adding that to his resume before he is done. time is very limited when you are 37 and at the top of the game. hes earned his right to choose a path and unlike most who would choose an easy one hes going after gold as always.
