Media Jon Jones: Aspinall "Hasn't Proven ANYTHING" To Fight Me - WOULD Fight Alex Pereira For "Legacy"

Angling for a Poatan fight was easy to call. That fight makes a lot more sense for Jon in terms of making a big fight that's also extremely winnable.

What the fighter thinks is of no importance.

The UFC is the one that needs to be ashamed and force Jones to fight. If he doesn't want to fight, they can just strip him of the title, it's that simple.

Jones had many opportunities to move up and fight the best hw at the time. Cain, Ngannou and now Tom. We all know how it ends.

At least this time, I give Jon a pass because he’s high on mileage.

Raging narcissist. And one of the biggest duck jobs in mma history. His levels of copium see hilarious. You can tell he dosent really want to retire after stipe. He obviously wants to remain HW champion and gloat about it longer. But he also is clearly petrified about the idea of fighting aspinal.

He's done everything he can to down play the idea of him vs Cain, Francis, or tom through out his career. He never wants to give up the physical or age advantages in a fight.

Bingo. If you wanna play this game where you pretend Tom isn't the obvious next fight, don't have an interim title fight and DAMN SURE don't have a guy "defend" the interim belt instead of fighting the actual belt holder.

Ehh I still think he has no choice. Retire or Aspinall. UFC won't let Pereira fight Aspinall for interim title, only belt. Jones won't fight either guy unless he's champ. Too bad, because if Jones felt more in his prime if he beat those 2 he would have most HW title defenses.

He is partially correct. Far more people would remember the Pereira fight
You think people would remmber better Jones taking down another kickboxer and submitting him instead of Jones getting fucked up by Tom?

I can imagine Tom sitting on his couch listening to this and also looking up Union/comitee factions lmao.

UFC couldn't get away with this shit if there was a union.

I hate these types of comments from fighters. Especially guys like Jones who have done it all and made their money. If you want to pick fights, give up the strap and stop holding up the division. Angling for a fight with Pereira who isn't even in the division and struggled with Jan Blachowicz is quite something. I'm not convinced Pereira gest past Ankalaev in the near future anyway.

'Legacy fights' and 'money fights' can stay in the world of boxing for me. One of the great appeals to MMA is that usually, the best fight the best. We have seen some incredible passing of the torch moments over the years.

We've had our hearts broken as some of the greats were beaten and laid out on the canvas. Legends like Chuck Liddell, Shogun, Anderson Silva, Wanderlei, Aldo, even active former champs like Volk and Holloway.

Jones is either taking the piss with these comments, or avoiding Aspinall. It could be a bit of both. Aspinall has laid waste to half the top ten inside one round and holds the interim title. The only one to tick off his hit list which is of some interest is Cyril Gane. He just has a style that causes Jones issues which is precisely why he doesn't want the fight.

Quite honestly, next week's Miocic/Jones fight might be for the official title, but as far as I'm concerned, Aspinall is the man in that division.
