Islam has surpassed Fedor

We have never seen a fighter be this dominant in the modern era of mma. Fedor was fighting bums like yuji nagata and looking pretty mid if I gotta say, and now we have a guy like Islam who dominated the former p4p number 1 guy volk twice, and now he moves up in weight on short notice to destroy the dominant ww champ.

People have tried to sneak diss on islam for a hot minute now but these guys gotta realize that islam is a modern mma marvel. Its not often that we get to see a one of a kind historical greatness fighter like him taking out top guys across all weight classes. Fedor never did this, chuck never did this, nate diaz never did this, and we gotta agree that rich franklin never did this.

Just face the facts bro. Islam just proved he is the greatest fighter of all time. The world waits to see who hes gonna dominate next.
What kind of drugs are u using? Islam's resume sucks, look at his opponents. How can anyone be that foolish? I was laughing as f when Rogan said Makhachev reaches all time great - LIKE WTF? His best win is Poirer loong time out of prime. Other than that he have 0 valuable wins.

Aaaand dude says that Makhachev surpassed Fedor which constantly faced killers, dude i hope u are atleast on heroin cuz otherwise u are straight up lobotomy patient.

I say no. Stat wise Islam probably surpassed Fedor, but Islams fighting style is just so safe and pretty one dimensional, while Fedor was a warrior who mastered both striking and grappling. Also, Fedor did not cut weight, while Islams cuts a lot. So - Islams walk around weight is above 200 lbs, while Fedors was 220-230, so pretty close to each other. Now ask yourself - if they fought (while Fedor was also in his prime), who do you think would win?

I will add - I am a Fedor nuthugger, and I hate the Dagestani style of fighting/grappling.

Greatest fighter of all time?? <lol>

Islams 5 best wins

- Volk (fighting out of his weight class)
- Do Bronx
- Arman (22 years old btw lol)
- Dustin (1 fight before retirement lol)
- JDM (For all we know this dude might not be top 4-5 at WW)

Islam is a great fighter but everyone is always prisoner of the moment. Nobody thought JDM was even the best WW in the division. Very dominant performance, but he's not even close to being the greatest of all time. You're just rage baiting :)

If he can stick around and get a couple more quality wins, he will really enhance his resume and legacy. But he doesn't fight enough, so not really sure where he goes from here besides fighting a 38-39 year old Kamaru Usman if the UFC allows it to happen.
You can do what you just did to Islam's record with just about anyone's record if you want to. Pick a fighter and try it. Works every time.

Islam isn't one dimensional. He's a more than competent striker at this point. He's a pretty dangerous striker with power, in fact. Also not reckless or particularly defensively porous on the feet, either, like a lot of other grappling forward guys.

Its hard to directly compare them. Fedor fought guys who were like a foot taller than him and/or 50+ lbs heavier than him multiple times. He also fought way more often, had much more of an aura and because he came along relatively early in the sports lifespan there was less of a benchmark to compare him to, which made him seem even more special.

I think the modern guys in general really have to go the extra mile to enter that Jon/GSP/Fedor/Anderson bracket. Its probably not fair but it is what is, the longer the sport goes on the more fighters you can be compared to and the higher the standards for a GOAT legacy will get.

Fedor's only really impressive wins in Pride were Cro-Cop and Nog, who both suddenly looked washed a couple of years later in the UFC. Sylvia and Arlovkski were pretty nice wins, but they were several years past their time as UFC champs...and would've been losing to guys like JDS and Cain if they remained in the UFC.

40+-year old Coleman, LHW Randleman (17-16 career record), etc. weren't elite-level wins.
So constantly fighting killer which they put infront of u - Randleman, Coleman, Nogueira, Hunt, Cro-cop, Arlovski, Overeem is less than beating 37 year old Volkanovski out of his weight class, beating basically reitred Poirier and Oliveira is more than Fedors record.

Are yall serious? U are either trolling or u have "meme" instead of brain.

The reason his striking is "good" is that people are so scared of getting taken down that he can let his hands go. In a pure striking match he would lose to almost every fighter he has beaten in the UFC.

No its not, Makhachev were dodging anyone who have potential to one shot KO him after Martins lose. He is literally cherrypicking his opponents and padding his record meanwhile Fedor faced who ever they gave him...

Ye go ahead and do it with Fedor's
It's been done with Fedor's resume countless times for the past 20+ years.

I'm a huge Fedor fan. I'm not going to do that. Find one of the million posts on this forum and elsewhere that have. There are lots to choose from.

What does that really mean, though? He's an MMA fighter, competing in MMA. If he is so good and threatening in wrestling and grappling that he can outstrike technically better strikers, what does that say about the pure striking arts as a whole?

Does that effectiveness not prove the entire concept and theory behind the sport of MMA?

I'm quite certain that he fought several guys after that loss that have one shot KO's on their records.

But they were not stylistically risky matchups as others. Like who do you mean? Hooker? Its not stylistically risky fight for Makhachev. Topuria is explosive for example, this is risky fight. Theoretically Gaethej.

Now he will advocate to fight Usman - another favourable matchup. They will pad his record with 2 more easy wins - most likely vs managment co-members and then he will leave as "goat". Just wait and watch...

BTW if somehow illia vs pimblett happens and pimblett pulls it out - Makhachev will run back to LW as Usain runned for his world records.
