Is Aspinall's eye really hurt or not?

It’s hard to judge , but not giving a timeline on his return is what’s frustrating everyone, if it’s going to be a significant amount of time just say so and we’ll have an intern fight in the meantime

I doubt the guy who has 18 professional fights is faking over a few jabs. It's likely he has some damage and doesn't want to risk further until he's healed. He's at his peak money making and fame, it doesn't make sense to sit on the sidelines. Even fighting and losing would do more for his pocketbook and followers. Once recovered I expect him to show back up.

Paddy had significantly worse damage to his eyes and already gave us a time line for his return a week after his fight. He didn't have to spend 2 months driving around to different doctors until he found one to corroborate his phony claims.

That big bitch didnt even attempt to continue and theres no "surgery" happening. What happened to critical thinking?

IMO Tom's eye was truly hurt and he couldn't see, when he refused to continue. Many fighters have admitted they couldn't see after being poked and continuing to fight.

But I think he got so much backlash that he felt the need to embellish the severity of his eye injury in the weeks following the fight. I'm sure his eye wasn't still 100%, but I'm skeptical it was as bad as he claimed. And it's a shame. He shouldn't feel the need to justify refusing to continue fighting. If you can't see for 15 minutes during the fight, that's all that matters. It doesn't matter if your vision is 100% the next day.

There's 2 things to know about Brit's bad eyes, and you have to put the 2 pieces of this puzzle together.

The first is that the Brits have notoriously bad dental care.

The second is how many Brits look like this

Thus, bad eyes

The dude is or had surgery or what ever procedure done.

You aren't messing around with your eyes for a good story.

Aspinall fans be like "Why would he lie?"

hmm maybe because his whole brand is based on being the baddest, most feared HW in the world and if it's revealed he's just another glass cannon HW bum with questionable heart he has nothing left.
Ah. So he would feign an injury, after already sitting out for a big part of his prime to accommodate Jones vs Stipe.

Also, he ate harder punches from Pavlovich than Gane, but didn't quit.
Perhaps because he didn't get his eyeballs fingered with full-force in that fight.

Now he had a competitive round 1 with Gane, sure, but reading here one would think he was dominated.

I don't think people actually believe that he's feigning an injury?

It feels more like a coordinated troll-attack from Jones-fans who are embarrassed that UFC called Jones bluff about fighting Aspinall for FU-money, which publicly humiliated him, and then by proxy humiliated his staunchest supporters who claimed Jones was playing games to maximize his earnings and "create interest in the fight".

I feel for Aspinall, but honestly you could argue we haven't seen a legitimate HW championship fight complete since 2023 with Jones/Gane. I'd rather see the UFC move Pereira up for the vacant belt and Tom fights for title when he's ready to return than delay with an interim. They did it at LHW and it gave us 3 champs in a division where there wasn't any.

How about you go fuck yourself?

Maybe, by then, you will eventually have a fkin clue!

Fkin idiot kids these days!

Same. I feel bad for him, but he hasn't technically defended his belt since June 2025 when he was promoted to HW champion.

I honestly feel like the UFC might be internally giving him until the end of June 2026 to defend his title, or at the very least agree to a title defense by the end of the summer.

I agree that I'd like to see Pereira fight for the vacant HW title if Tom can't defend his belt soon.
