If you were Tom Aspinall, what would you do?

As shitty as it is, if defending the interim belt is even an option I would think that's his best bet. Like many others have said his prime is being wasted waiting on Jones who I don't think has any real interest in fighting him. I also think anyone saying he should try to get out of his contract and explore options outside of the UFC are really overestimating his popularity, and it's very unlikely that the UFC would even let that happen.

•I’d VERY publicly start calling myself the undisputed champ
•ask for a fight other then Jones (would just stop even speaking on Jones)
•If the UFC isn’t willing, I’d ask to be released from my contract.

He’s better off fighting Ngannou, a few cans and riding off into the sunset.

I'm always confused when people are critical of Tom for not fighting anyone else.

Interim title defenses are very uncommon, and he's already done that. Dana REALLY wants to make Aspinall v Jones happen. What makes people think they're even open to offering Tom a fight that isn't Jones?

Are they going to offer him Gane? Imagine if Gane wins. I bet Jon signs on THAT dotted line immediately.

There's a lot of blame to be placed here, and putting it on Tom, the guy who's being screwed the hardest is just plain goofy.

It only costs about $25k to have someone whacked.

- Fight Gane/Almeida and stay active.
- Drop to 205.
- Take the Ngannou route and try your luck outside of the UFC.
- Keep pushing for the Jones fight and hope for the best.
I would try to fight Ngannou but that's probably not a realistic option because I would be under a contract that prevents me from fighting in another organization, so realistically there are 2 options:

- Option 1: Fight Gane for the interim belt (that's what the UFC wants), OR
- Option 2: Wait for Jones to get stripped/retire.

I would reject option 1 because, honestly, it's outrageous. No one should have to defend the interim belt twice, especially when the so-called champion isn't injured. And Gane lost his last fight.

Option 2 isn't ideal but I'm not desperate for money and can wait, plus Time would be on my side.

Tom thinking he had the deal..then cruelly pullling it away again and again

Jon -destroyer of worlds-Jones

1 and 2 are non starters, so there's that

Simple: fight someone.

If Asspedal fought anyone and won, he would be having public support and put UFC into uncomfortable position.
instead, while sitting off and wasting his prime, most of the audience has forgot his name. The more he sits off - the less people give a fuck about him.

He can keep meme'ing/playing victim card and has all the right to do so. But people already more focused on Jones hate rather than supporting Aspirine. Sooner or later the narrative comes in: "He is not fighting anyone and waiting for Jones cuz he is afraid of losing / gonna lose to <FIGHTERNAME>" and may the God help Asperger win otherwise it sticks to him till the end of his career.
People are laughing at you, not with you

Wait for the biggest payday in his life
win or lose hes gonna get paid
and people should realize theres no such thing as holding the belt hostage thats literaly imposible
average HW title fight is 1x every 365 days

or he could fight someone else smaller purse
gets unlucky and lose
hes going to be the laughing stock of people

One of which is a DQ for 12 to 6 elbows. The other is more than 10 years ago.
You quite literally brought up the Hamill DQ as an argument against Jones when it's:

- Also a DQ fr 12-6 elbows
- Was 16 years ago which is even longer than 10 years ago

I can't take you guys seriously when you're obviously just living in completely different realities.

I brought up the Hamill DQ in response to someone claiming Aspinalls Blaydes loss is a genuine loss to highlight how ridiculous it is. Neither is a legitimate loss.

or he can pull a Jones and call out Tai Tuivasa to get money and an easy win against a top 10 opponent while he waits.

Wholly shit the thumbnails are cringe, I remember the days when fighters were fighters

I’d fight someone else. Ya it would suck to lose but it’s clear Jon isn’t close to coming back and the ufc isn’t gonna strip Jon

Fight, win, grab the mic at the end and say that everybody knows he's the real champ, jon's too chickenshit to fight him.

Well apparently he is trying to sign a fight with another fighter so he can avoid fighting Jon. Just like Ngannou leaving UFC to avoid Jon. But im afraid a guy like Tom is just another rando that isn't truly worthy of fighting Mr Mt Rushmore himself anyway.
