Social Question about shark attacks.

This guy consistently post drone footage of great whites along the California coast. Often times they are so close to swimmers/surfers with out them knowing.

Its more fun when the great white is chilling and doesn't see the Apex predator coming

- Not even this friendly dude?

Sharks attacks are pretty rare. We have Fernando de Noronha here in Brazil, you can swimming with tiger sharks, and i dont think theres a single attack registered. But the waters are pretty clear.
Great white Sharks live in large numbers in Halifax and Nova Scotia in general. Getting larger every year

But other than the idiot who jumped off the yacht while BBQing and was swimming around sea wolf Island(Where Seals hang out), there hasn't been a shark bite since the 1800's

On the other hand, we tag a lot of sharks and they migrate to South Africa and it appears humans are on the menu when they go down there.

Are there sharks near Air Wolf Island? You know the island with the only breeding colony of jet powered helicopters.

- Why they're get more agressive there?
I've always read that the sea in South Africa is a nightmare!

- I like to watch those vídeos about sharks on tube. My favorite channel to this topic is Dodo.

There's several vídeos of people interacting with white sharks, i've watched one that a guy mistook a white shark with whale shark. Was the white supremacist shark.
And even thought he jumped in the water, touched the shark, before realizing, the animal wasn't bothered by him, didnt even try to attack.
The Shark could’ve had brain damage like that one Crocodile that was swimming with its caretaker for years.
We also got videos similar to those bellow:

Theres also a video, con't find now, but a man saved a white shark, and the animal always greet's him, and diferent to what was belivied decades ago, that sharks were dumb, bloodtirst animals(i wasn't born of course, but read about), sharks aren't dumb, they can reconize people, and even the under hull of a boat.

In honesty Sharks should be viewed in the same vein as Bears, Sharks are not dumb they know exactly what they’re doing you are right about that.
Do the people that have encounters with them, just very lucky?
Depending on the Shark and circumstances, if it’s Great White, Bull Shark, Tiger or Mako, you’re very very lucky. Bull Shark and Tigers will practically attack anything.
Or they can develop afective ties with people and other animals?
Nope, they are predators we must never forget that. The misconception of the term “Sharks are more afraid of humans than we are of them” imo is a load to bull shit.

Theres a shark problem in Hawaii. Hugely overpopulated.

You can't kill them though. The good ole boys think they're gods.

smh
Having lived there for years, caught a lot of Hammer Heads and a few white tips whilst fishing, I’ve encountered the ones that don’t bother, nurse sharks and white tips while diving.

In the past few years there seem to be a uptick in fatal Shark Attacks around the world, I believe over fishing unknowingly has put humans on the menu, although still rare I never believed in the whole mistaken identity, they’re smart, they know what their usual prey smells and looks like, I don’t believe they’re actively hunting humans as they would be absolutely terrifying, but I do believe given circumstances, if they’re hungry and or we are in its territory, it’ll knowingly attack humans.

In Hawaii, lots of people go missing or apparent drownings with no body in the ocean all the time, I’ve always had a gut feeling that a good percentage of them have been Shark Attacks.

My wife and I used to Scuba all the time and did shark dives where we actively sought the "experience". First one is Black Tip Reef sharks the second one is Bull Sharks.

That second one was just stupid. I really should not have done that.

Now I live on a boat and see them all the time. I just avoid them. Mostly they approach because they think they are going to get fed. I say fuck off and slap them with my fin.

I really, really, really don't like getting in the water at night because they cant see, I cant see, and they are hunting on electrical impulses.

Some sharks are totally friendly like nurse or lemon. But people who get too cuddly with ANY sharks are stupid. I fucking HATE people who feed them at anchorages or marinas.

I'll be in the water later today and gopro a couple that hang around the boat.

ETA:

Yup... went out without the cage today in search of these man-eaters. Behold! The APEX PREDATOR!!!

Yes and yes. Some animals are just crazy like some people and no matter what will attack or act crazy for unknown reasons. This is the luck. I think they can make friends when no presence of a threat is felt. But if they haven't eaten in days, I think they are happy to eat their friend for dinner.

As a proud Sherdogger with no normal fears, Any 'Dogger (or SO) with an unprotected shark, bull, snake, hornet, video confrontation for proof gets some well deserved cred.

They usually only happen during tornado season.

Mission accomplished.

I went out today and found one.

Edited the original post and added it on the bottom.

Scary shit - be warned.

Lots of bull sharks swimming around here where I live. I've yet to read a story of a human building a relationship with one. Don't imagine I'll try that myself.

Entirely different from sharks, but I see a number of dolphins swimming along the back canal near my place. I also see them jumping out of the water from time to time as i drive over the causeway to the mainland. Being a fan of the TV series Flipper as a kid I could see being with a dolphin as being enjoyable.

The likelihood of a shark killing you is 0.0001% chance. Likely a human being will kill you 25% chance.
