News Ian Garry vs Joaquin Buckley - UFC Tampa - Dec 14

Wanted a tougher more interesting challenge for Ian at this point.

Him stepping up vs Shavkhat would've been perfect.
Except Ian is boring and the UFC would never make it, especially after his last 2 outings..

Good fight, but Garry is far more complete. Buckley has a big equalizer in his power but I don't think it'll be enough to stop Ian.

Garry by decision.

I still believe they feel he has decent star potential though
I agree but no way are they letting him near a TS as he is now. He's going to have to go on quite a lengthy win streak like Belal before they entertain the idea unless he changes his fight style over night..

5 rounds is a long time for Buckley to catch that chin. If he pulls the trigger more than Neal I can see him having the bigger moments & possibly getting the finish.

Wonderboy was an excellent fight to prepare for Garry tbh.

People get really pissy about this for some reason.

>He was on a 4 fight win streak and got into the rankings beating #15, who was fighting down because he was off a loss.

>He was at 13 in the rankings fighting #11 Magny. Magny was off one win over an unranked guy

>He was at 10 fighting #8, who was fighting down because he was off a loss.

>Then Garry, on a 14 fight win streak, unbeaten at 7 wins in the UFC and ranked #7, fought #15 MVP.

The guy's upward movement was all sensible, extremely incremental, against people who were barely above him and on backwards momentum themselves, then he reaches WAY back in the rankings to fight someone, and everyone's still like "Ooh, fuck this guy for not fighting backwards."

Why should he right now?

To be fair to him taking this fight though, Edwards only just lost the belt, so let's see how he stays in the mix, but Usman and Covington are both squatters going backwards. Then an injured JDM and his only choices are slotted-for-a-title Shavkat, and Brady.

Buckley is up with them there in that big streaking bunch, so best to eliminate whichever you can
Way would Brady be in line for a title shot ?

Did I call the match-up or did I calls it Sherbro?

Winner is an instant contender on a huge streak, will be one win from a title shot guaranteed after pretty much (might be even able to skip the queue if they get a highlight reel finish).

Elaborate on that?

Don’t think he’s beat enough top guys …. Gastulum looked like a shell of himself and Burns hasn’t been looking overly good ….Brady needs at least one win or likely two for a title shot

I'm confused, but I'm also high as fuck. I meant like, how did you pull that from what I said? Do you mean is Brady like 'shouldn't be in line for a title shot' meaning that Brady is not good for like, getting a title shot for fighting Garry?

I think Brady's problem is going to be Belal specifically being the champion, given the loss at 280.

I think his path gets a lot shorter if Shavkat or someone else is holding the belt.

Oh yeah, I'd agree. It's part of why, even though he's ranked higher than Garry, I think most people see him as behind him in the line for next

I will poop my pants if Ian does anything other than stick to the outside and point fight the shit outta Buckley

Excellent fight. I will go against the majority and pick Buckley by knockout. But Garry win wouldnt surprise me either

Garry is kinda chinny and relies on his height to be defensively responsible. Buckley is a limited but talented fighter who isn't afraid to go for it, this fight feels close to me...not because Buckley is a serious contender but because I think Garry is due for being exposed.

I’m high as fuck as well ….not sure lol
