I like Aspinall but he has nothing for this Jon Jones

Tom fights faster than Jones but Jones fights to his opponent so whatever speed his opponent brings Jones kind of works that tempo.

maybe I'm wrong but it just seems that way.
The thing is can Jones handle a guy the size of Tom who moves like Tom?

Seems like his best bet is to take it to the ground, get Tom on his back, where we have not really seen him.

Standing up though ? Tom only needs one shot, and he's gonna be bigger and faster and hit much harder. If Jones turns and runs at Aspinall's charge, he could pay dearly for it.

I’m not saying Jon would beat Aspinal, in fact I think Aspinal wins that fight.. But if we’re going by that metric it took Tom 2 rounds to finish the ghost of Arlosvki with 19 losses on his record and didn’t even KO him…

I have no substantial reply but just to say I love these phrasings that come from these conversations, like "ghost of Arlovski" (lol!!) or as I saw yesterday Stipe as a "stone gargoyle" (!!!)

I believe this is the right take. I can't see Jones surviving in the pocket with Tom. he must do wrestling.

quite sure Jones will spam that knee too.

definitely the fight to make!

He didn't against Gane. Or Reyes.

Jon has decent speed for a HW but there's clearly a limit to how fast he can get.

In fact he's likely to be even slower against Aspinall. He'll put on weight like he did against Gane and come to wrestle and avoid striking at all costs.

He's also not getting any younger.

He's clearly adapted his output and style for being slower and conditioning similar to late career Anderson.

But Aspinall, he might not be able to overcome. He def need to take him down. Aspinall def can get got at in his charges, get tagged but he just walks through those, and against much bigger guys than Jones.

Tom has speed and power on his side. But Jones has a ton of experience, high fight IQ, great arsenal of weapons, long term cardio and a great chin.

I think it is going to be one of those fights where Tom is going to look really good in the first 2 rounds but does not do enough in the later rounds to win.

The fact that this old super washed version of Stipe was landing on Jones, makes me super confident that Tom can land and put out Jones.

I really wonder if it will go that long.

I don't even think Stipe hit pads to prep for this fight. Literally arm punches with no defense. He was probably obligated to shoot "training footage" to sell the fight but outside of that he didn't do shit

It's scary the kinda takes that are coming out after that performance. I don't get what some of you were watching to think this Jones was anything amazing. Jones looked sloppy and laboured and Stipe looked like a warmed up corpse.

Jones didn't look horrible but my question is why do fighters keep letting Jones dictate the distance in a fight? Jones has an issue with being pressured. We saw it in the Stipe fight. Stipe was crazy slow but when he attacked Jones, Jones literally jogged away and reset. After seeing Jones twice now at HW the only way he beats Aspinall is by taking the fight to the ground.

Jones is still very dangerous on the ground but his standup, despite the kick, is significantly worse at HW. Also, the longer he takes to do the Aspinall fight the less I like Jones chances since he is already past 35.

He has the same speed and a little more power than Jones and that's it.

He's got nothing else.

A little more power? If Jones had close to Aspinall's power he'd have way more finishes, and we've had Jones cheating with steroids to a record amount of hot tests.

I think his window of winning ends in the first few mins of first round.. the amount of arsenal jones has is too much for Aspinall..

That is the fight we will see next
I think Dana should let Jones fight Alex Peraria, after Tom has a fight or two, I think Tom And Jon should fight.
