Because Gane was #1 , Nghou ran away and Stripe wasn't sure he wanted to fight. Jones smashed him it wasn't a challenge and TKO Stripe. At some point things change you don't just fight to whoever

Big deal… he took couple of years to “bulk”… biggest joke of a bulk ever. Grew titties and a beer belly. He just waited for Francis to leave. The very next day after he left on Jan 23’, Jon vs french kickboxer with shit grappling Gane was set.
It’s all over again with Aspinall. Aspinal is a “nobody”, not worth it… proceeds to retire when he has no other choice. Looks to fight 0 grappling Pereira. He was desperate. Trembling. He reminded me of GSP running away from Anderson. But at least Gsp was man enough to say, “fuck no, too big”.

Nice try. Gane WAS NOT Interim Champ when he fought Jones. He lost the unification bout vs Ngannou 2 fights before.
Who did Gane beat for the right to face Jones? Tai-fucking-Tuivasa.

How about the person who WAS Interim Champ following his annihilation of Gane?
If your justification for Jones facing Gane was that he was Interim Champ (he wasn't) then the same reasoning should apply to Aspinall. Especially seeing as he actually held the title you mis-attributed to Gane.

There was no interim champ when Jones beat Gane
As you pointed out, Gane lost the interim title to Francis unifying the belt.
Francis quit MMA
Gane was #1
Stipe was #2
There was no else for Jones to call out after he squashed #1 Gane.
Unless you are suggesting he should have called the #8 (Tom)'at the time who no one ever heard of that just lost Curtis Blaydes.
