How do we see Islam VS JDM going

Belal would have been finished if he'd pushed for more takedowns. He was punished every time he tried to catch one without setting it up.
JDMs footwork prevented Belal attempting takedowns
Nah, I didn't even go for one until the end of round 2 despite JDM being backed to the fence. Belal literally said he thought he was doing well on the feet so he didn't try till later

I have it JDM by TKO tbh, it all depends on how different Islam is at 170lbs, if he's even 10% better I expect him to finish JDM but I'm of the belief that Islam will gas faster when he's 15lbs heavier, I might be wrong.

IDK why but my gut is telling me that JDM beats Islam. My brain says Islam wins.

This is by far the toughest fight of either guys career. The idea that Topuria would be a tougher fight than JDM is insane.
It's absolutely insane that people think Topuria is a harder fight than JDM, JDM is by far the toughest fight for Islam in the UFC right now if we talk about 155/170 divisions

I will be the most funny if Islam loses and have to go back down to face the rose man 🌹

It's all part of el plan

will be even funnier bumping all these posts if Islam goes back to LW and beats him, or god forbid Paddy or Arman do it first

I am often right about my picks and here is my take. I always picked Islam or Khabib due to my muslim bias but this is one fight I would not bet on Islam. Size is a slight problem with JDM being taller and having much more reach but it can still be manageble the issue here is JDM is one of the best of not the best scrambler in the UFC with excellent sub defence and coached by freakin Craig Jones. I dont see Islam submitting JDM at all. neither do I see him holding him down like Khamzat as Khamzat 10x the wrestler Islam is and the previously mentioned scrambling. he fights excellently with a low stance and has dynamite in his fists and very good striking.
I see it going like Islam maybe gets a one offf takedown but cant sub or hold JDM who gets up and pieces Islam on the feet eventually either a KO or decision win depending on Islam's chin at welterweight.
I thick its actually 80/20 JDM. Its a horrific style matchup against a bigger opponent magnifies the already bad style matchup for Islam.
If the bets are somehow in Islam's favor I would put money on JDM

It's hard to judge match up wise it might be one of the easiest stylistic match ups for islam in all of the top 10

A 100 Dollar bet on Jack returns 325 dollars.

And yet you still have idiots saying he ducked ilia LOL.

TBH, I think the key factor in this fight is how much the 155 weight cut was effecting Islam. If it was really depleting him we might see him level up, maybe even dominate. If it wasn’t a big factor then it will be a very hard fight for him. For that reason I say it’s a 50-50 fight.

I think islams stand up will be enough of a threat to where he can set up his takedowns. Closhish dec win for him probably.

If the size differential isn't bad (Islam looks huge) and his cardio isn't affected, I don't see what resistance JDM can offer

Then again I didnt expect him to blow Belal out the way he did

Either way, Islam by convincing decision with some spots of trouble along the way. 48-47 but the 3 rounds he wins are by larger margins than the ones he gives up

yea I personally think Ian garry Shavkat etc are easier fights for Islam due to the style matchup as they dont have the striking of JDM.
I think if he beats JDM he remains welterweight champ for years to come. I personally think he beats Ilia. Ilia's TDD is not exactly stellar and we have also seen him gas out. he likely punches harder than JDM but I think Islam can grind out a victory. imo the way Islam wins is if he manages to exploit JDM's low stance and lands a kick and get a darce choke on the scramble. that being said this stylistically and based on size is the toughest fight of Islam's life, a far harder fight than Topuria(who also ducked Evloev and now Arman)

After the Canelo fight I changed my pick

Cause everyone (including myself) was going on and on about Canelos frame and natural muscle and all that shit

Canelo ends up like 5 pounds heavier and gets killed

Islam was a massive lightweight. He came in 178 against Moicano who I think set the record at 181. And Islam looked so lean at 178

It’s gonna end up being the exact same size difference as the Canelo fight.. will be 185 ish to JDMs 190

3 inch reach is a factor.. it’s not insurmountable. JDM will have to win off skill and that’s a tough ask

I’m still not convinced that JDM will be able to stuff Islam’s takedowns/scramble up. Many people are assuming JDM’s size will allow him to do that, but like I said, we’ve never seen Islam at 170. He could be a lot stronger and have much better cardio, if that’s the case JDM’s grappling technique is so far behind Islam’s that he will just repeatedly get taken down and controlled, possibly even subbed. But if the size/strength difference is a real thing, then yes Islam could be in trouble.

Leaning islam... JDM couldn't sleep a scrub like Belal, so i dont think he gets islam out of there

If JDM can stop the trips, judo, takedowns then i think he can win just based on well roundedness and cardio.

If Islam takes him down its over. either the top pressure will make him wilt or he'll make a mistake getting up and get trapped in a sub.
