This is one of those questions that should be easy, but holy shit, I can't choose. He's got some names on his resume, but the bigger ones were shop worn at the time, and worse, most of his wins are snuggle fests. For example, he beat Dong Hyun Kim when the Dong was 22-3, on a 3 fight win streak and his only losses were to Maia, Woodley and Condit. Not bad, right? But Colby was his retirement fight. I suppose you can pick apart anyone's resume, but I feel like Colby has lots of asterisks on his wins.

Current Colby is too washed.

In his prime though it would have been an interesting fight, I'm sure he could have at least stopped some of the takedowns and got back up to his feet on some occassions. We don't really know how good his submission defence would have been in comparison to JDM though. He may have gotten subbed.

I think Prime Colby would have gotten subbed by Islam. He'd offer no submission threat on his end but he'd engage more offensively in grappling than JDM did and that would open up more opportunities for Islam to catch a sub on him.
