Still don't see how people thought Joaquin's portrayal was just as good. Heath still has the number 1 spot IMO.

Bit of an unfair comparison, imo.

Whilst both were playing the same character technically, they weren’t in reality.

Its an all time great performance. You could not tell for an instance that this was the same guy from Brokeback Mountain or A Knights Tale. Total transformation, superbly acted and very impactful. People still dress up as his version of the joker for halloween. Plus the role won the Oscar and gave him universal praise.

Easy 10/10

PS....I love Jacks Joker as well, but its pretty much Jack doing Jack in makeup, lol.

Remember it being one of the few good comic films and it was because of Ledger's performance. Too bad the Greek method of acting seems to be bad for these guys though. Saw his journals from around that time and method acting seems to have drove him nuts. Doing hard drugs and banging the Olsen twins ain't worth missing out on yr kid's future.

I enjoyed Joker, don't get me wrong but I wasn't seeing the performance everyone else was seeing with Joaquin.

Good.

A role every competent actor should love to play (inb4 Leto).

Very overrated, at the same time. Don't care what anyone says, his death obviously affected the perception of the performance.
Many competent actors have had that role and not had the critical acclaim he got for it and i think one could argue, he has changed how many actors who have followed, and tried to mimic his performance when playing iconic bad guys.

the big thing with playing an iconic character is they can more easily blow it then knock it out of the park.

Same.

He was definitely the best thing about the film, at the same time.

Someone described it as “Taxi Driver for beginners”.

Very apt.

Difference is he was basically on screen constantly and had to carry the whole film, whereas HL benefited from having a relatively small role, minutes wise.

I always compare heaths performance to Val Kilmer performance in tombstone. They stole the show.

7, very overrated. He straight up mimicked a drunk Tom Waits from an interview. Mimics have talent but it's not the same as creating something on your own.

I think Sherdog in general downplays how good of a movie TDK really was, and Heath was the centerpiece of it
