After Hamas is gone, do you believe something should be done with Likud for their decades of colonization and terror on the Palestinians?

i would like to see likud voted out of power, and i'd like to see different actions in the west bank. and i'd like to think there can be more permanent solutions, with realistic goals. but unfortunately i think keeping pals in limbo (with delusional goals) is the goal for many in the region / worldwide.

Sorry I'm late to the conversation and it's probably a needless tangent, but, Hamas is an idea, not just a political entity. You can't bomb ideas out of existence unless you destroy the minds that carry that idea.

I don't think it's actually possible to destroy Hamas as such.

As another aside I've noticed Israel is now talking about 'total' victory, which I assume is killing everyone and salting the earth. Pretty wild really.

Almost sounds like he’s saying Hamas should remain in power because whoever would replace them would be just as hateful of Israel due to Israel’s retaliation. Let them terrorize every so often with impunity because it’s inevitable

No, Hamas is clearly a military and political entity with a defined structure of hierarchy and leadership. They can be dealt with just like any other terror organization that has existed and been dealt with.

noone is talking about killing everybody.

and hamas is much more than just an idea. they ARE the governing body. they have real leadership. real members. they physically control inside gaza.

They are only in a position to go after individual leaders because they actively went into Gaza and physically removed hamas. It was the only way for regime change in Gaza.

For a new government to be put in place, the existing one has to be kicked out.

You speak in abstracts, as if wishing for a new government works. Or that you can just target individuals.

If they just leave a void, then sure, that's an extremely real possibility.

But do you honestly expect them to do that?

Sooner or later, Israel (not the IDF, not Netanyahu, but the state of Israel) is going to have to work hand-in-hand with the people of Gaza.

And they can't do that with endless bombing.
