- Trump insisted he was serious in his determination to take over Greenland.
- Frederiksen the Danish premier said she had emphasised that the vast Arctic island — an autonomous part of the kingdom of Denmark — was not for sale.
- Trump had been aggressive and confrontational following the Danish prime minister’s comments that the island was not for sale.
- Trump threatened specific measures against Denmark including targeted tariffs.
- He declined to rule out military force to take Greenland, questioning Denmark legal right to territory.
- "Before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious, and potentially very dangerous.”

All this was a ploy. Denmark will eventually let the US have more military installations on Greenland. They will add to Thule, and strategically have a stronghold.

So it's 4d chess? If another base is the goal, why not simply ask them... is there any reason to think that would be denied? Wouldn't that request at least be taken more seriously?

Seems more likely that Trump looked at a map of the earth (without being aware of the concept of Mercator projection distortion) and thought "whats that massive continent up there and why don't we have it"

Can't you just give them more money for more bases. Expecting an EU country to give you land is a little bit of a reach.

Its just a negotiation tactic

Trump should just load up that plane of his with as many cartons of eggs as it can hold and fly over to that sad little lump of ice and tell em they can take it or leave it cause Freedom's on it's way...

From what Sherbros tell me about American egg prices I doubt the US military budget would stretch quite that far

Let's keep things in perspective. One company in Denmark is worth almost as much as the entire country's economy.

I think it's more than just another base. With the way the world is going, it's probably more like what Russia has with entire underground arctic military installations. Trump would never just look at something and want it without there being some sort of financial or strategic gain. Although he does want Canada and that may prove your point....

They already does have permits, there it is since 1941 th BTW.
Already might had installed even 10000 guys.
Military installations are allowed since 1941 th...

Then U.S, Canada and Europe needed better weather prognosis and radio stations for shipping. These does needs electricity and generators + gasoline and diesel for them had U.S...therefore U.S get permit. Without any limit of troops ( number of guys ). stationed....
Nothing had changed.

Later they installed radars, later also stuff for SOSUS...

MAGA guys are delusional.
How much guys U.S now does have in Greenland? Lesser than 400.

Trump is talking a lot, had he installed more 2016-2020? NO.

About mining industry it is private business...buy/ purchase. Different question.

No real new development here, KOPPE

They didn’t take it seriously before and now they do take it seriously. That’s been known.

They can decide if it’s up for sale or it’s up for grabs.
