Opinion Trump threatens to retake control of Panama Canal

We’ve tried twice to get it before but it’s more important now as China is encroaching in the artic alongside Russia. Military systems change and rare earth materials become more important for electronics.
Then make a deal with them and don't act like a fucking asshole who acts like he can buy anything.

these retards also forget their ancestors are probably irish and/or italian, which means they were the dirty migrants getting shit on by americans 150 years ago. they're just considered white now so they feel high and mighty.

True, but that wasn't MASS MIGRATION.

Mass migration is only when nonwhites move to white countries. Whites to other white countries is just people moving around.

The US does own the land the canal is on correct?

How does the article fail to mention that.

He said Trump was using idiotic tactics. He said Trump shouldn’t say these things. He said he think it’s silly to muse about invading Panama and it’s very on brand for Trump to say such absurdities. I could go on.
Over a dozen posts but all ignored.

anyway — Merry Christmas sherbro!

Said it before but Trump will probably end up shooting down a civillian aircraft in response to the tiktok drone sightings

I don't think I dismissed these things, in fact I made the point that it's part of his playbook.
Its not so much about defending the idea as much as it is running interference for Trump in a general sense.

Sure Rob will concede that Trump should not have said that but he'll pull teeth to extract a silver lining to his comments("Actually he's right that we shouldn't never gave it up and in fact we should negotiate for a better deal") while ridiculing those pushing back against the idea("My goodness, you don't think Panama is like Iraq do you?").

The purpose is to stake out a compromise between Trumps patently absurd and completely uncalled for statements and the people criticizing them to blunt the force of the latter. Like when a teacher breaks up a fight between a bully and their victim only to say both are equally at fault. Sure she's "blamed" the bully too but in general that serves to make people think twice about standing up to the bully.

Not a perfect analogy but hope that makes sense.
He pays lip service to the idea that Trump's rhetoric is bad but wants me to admit Trump had a point in there somewhere and if I can't admit that then I have TDS.

I know I might seem petty but that's my take based on my overall experience with Rob and guys like him.

Even still, I think I was fairly patient and cordial given the circumstances. If you look to the beginning of the thread I'm mainly asking clarifying questions. Rob jumps in to extract a concession from me as I'm lightly pushing back against the idea and that's why I see it as him running this play as I call it. I can't expect you to take my word for it if you don't see it yourself but that's my POV.

I saw this posted on 4chan

Might be a better deal. Panama canal charges us up the ass while cutting deals with the Chinese

Panama Canal:
>Outdated
>500k per ship
>Can’t handle largest ships
>Panamax class ships are inefficient

Nicaraguan Canal:
>50 billion to complete
>Handles the largest of ships
>Shorter route than Panama
>Less than 5 years to complete

The Chinese started the ground work for the Nicaraguan Canal but abandoned it after a terrified Panama offered them a Sweetheart deal. This left the Nicaraguan Government desperate for investment to finish the project. Trump knows this, will cut a deal to finish the canal, leaving America/Nicaragua controlling Atlantic/Pacific trade.

Panama has two choices. Bend the knee or get cut out.

Merry Christmas

I feel like I was pretty cordial in this thread despite being called a garbage person and a dozen posts condemning Trump.
