International Greenland is not for sale.

So it's 4d chess? If another base is the goal, why not simply ask them... is there any reason to think that would be denied? Wouldn't that request at least be taken more seriously?

Seems more likely that Trump looked at a map of the earth (without being aware of the concept of Mercator projection distortion) and thought "whats that massive continent up there and why don't we have it"

back in the day US had more than 10 000 soldiers on Greenland.
It has never been an issue.
Denmark is a founding member of NATO, had soldiers die in US wars.
They have always been a close ally to the US.
So if US wanted more bases / soldiers / other on Greenland all they had to do is ask.

its time for EU to cut ties with US and do deals with China
at least china only threatens their border nations (india, nepal, taiwan, japan)

so much for "Trump is all about peace", meanwhile he is threatening closest US allies with land grab

Denmark thinks they can stop the Trump train. That's a laugh. It will be ours.
I bet you 95% of trump supporters didnt even know what greenland was or who owned it
but suddenly, its a legit target for the taking even tho it belongs to US closest ally

This^^^ is absolutely true. The US also has freedom to patrol the seas around Greenland. There is nothing militarily to be gained. It's about resources (I'm pretty sure).

I legit thought the pic of the Danish PM was of a 90s (now out of the closet) boy band member. Who picked this as her picture?

Its just a negotiation tactic

Trump should just load up that plane of his with as many cartons of eggs as it can hold and fly over to that sad little lump of ice and tell em they can take it or leave it cause Freedom's on it's way...
It likely is, but it also causes friction and distrust with an allied nation.

It's a negotiation tactic. Start with an extreme position and then negotiate towards a compromise that both sides can live with.

'Aryan Anders....yeah that's what I call him, a lot of people do, really, they do. Believe me, I heard he is a bad dude. Doesn't like Muslims, doesn't like immigrants, real bad bad dude. I never liked him and I hear the great people of Greenland feel the same. Sad, really.'
