Media Dricus 'Khamzat is next. I can outwrestle him'

Khamzat didn't run through short notice Usman, so maybe a 185 champ with strong wrestling is going to be a problem?

Recap of Khamzat's record in the UFC against strong wrestlers:

- life and death vs Burns
- Majority DEC vs late notice Usman

Hehe, neither has Khamzat. Clash of the titans. Just hope it doesn't end with one of them blowing their ACL or some silliness like that.
Khamzat has had more cancelled fights than he's had top 10 wins and more retirements than title fights so I actually don't put much stock into what he says.

Khamzat avoiding illnesses, not getting injured or getting food poisoning, making weight, and getting a fight booked around Ramadan on a card based in a country he is eligible to enter is like winning the lottery at this point. Now DDP and Pereira are having words? Would save your bet money until after weigh-ins, boys

You mean had no problem taking down either of them. Took down Usman in all 3 rounds. Avoided staying on the mat with Burns but still took him down in 2 rounds. If DDP suddenly gets to Burn's BJJ level off his back I'll be impressed.

Like how you ignored that he ran through Whittaker like a hot knife on butter.

Takedowns are one metric, but why focus on that? It doesn't in any way undermine my point: when Khamzat couldn't utterly dominate the fight with his wrestling and was forced to strike, go deeper into a fight, he had a tough night at the office.

Well, that's because I was talking about 'strong wrestlers', not guys like Whitaker, who are mainly known as strikers who use their wrestling to avoid the ground.

Well, Khamzat used to outwrestle pretty big guys in sparring like Volkan, Gus, Latifi or Manuwa so it's very likely he can do that to DDP too

Grit and determination to win will make the difference here

I think DDP vs Khamzat is going to be more competitive than a lot think..

Chances are, yes. If I had to pick though, I would bet on DDP. Khamzat struggling with mini Burns on the feet and giving every indication of being a 3 round fighter does not bode well in this matchup. Dricus is not the best wrestler or the best striker, but he is a pesky combination of both and a massive 185er to boot.

Gus had good defensive and opportunity based wrestling... can't be argued that Latifi is a tank, but a natural 185er/not a big LHW/or much bigger than Chimaev...

But a wrestler out wrestling Volkan or Manuwa? I dunno if that's worth hanging on the mantle

As far as I know, Latifi has never competed at MW. He's short, but built like a brick, way heavier and stronger than Chimaev or Dricus. I remember he took down and controlled Derrick Lewis at HW and lost a close decision.
