I have concerns, but we've never seen him pull out of a title fight. I think he's going to put everything he has into it and do it right. Many of his pull outs were the bad case of covid. I have to keep reminding myself this is the same guy who started the UFC fighting 2 different weight classes within 10 days.

Lol bro out here blaming khamzat for guys pulling out of fights with him. It was definitely Khamzats fault when Leon pulled out of one of their scheduled bouts... Definitely was khamzat's fault when Costa pulled out too..... cool logic.
I like that he posts rumours of him returning and the short notice fight against Usman as examples of his unreliability. Anything can happen of course but this isn’t a rumour, the fight is booked lol

He wasn't expected to, no. Jon Jones stepped up one month after fighting Bader for his title shot against Shogun though.

Not too many fighters pull out this much and turn down title shots on 9 weeks after not taking much damage in their previous fight, which is why it's weird that everybody is only concerned about Khamzat not making it.
Dricus broke his foot in the whittaker fight, things aren't the same silly goose. There is a difference between sustaining an injury in your fights that effect your turn around and mishandling of fight preperation that leads to cancelation.(khamzats move) dricus not taking the fight on 8 weeks notice isn't even akin to pulling out of a fight. Not sure why it's even relevent to this discussion obviously, he couldn't fight.

Serious question. Am I the only one here who has zero confidence that Khamzat Chimaev actually makes it to the cage against Dricus Du Plessis?

This isn’t me trolling or hating. It’s just based on history. Khamzat has pulled out of or had fights fall apart multiple times, and it always feels like some weird chaos surrounds him. Meanwhile, a lot of people are talking like this fight is a done deal. Like they know he’s going to walk into the cage at 3:19. I don’t get it.

Let’s look at the track record:

Dec 2020 Khamzat vs Leon Edwards scrapped. Khamzat pulls out after COVID issues

Mar 2021 Rematch rescheduled, canceled again due to lingering COVID complications. Khamzat medically unfit

July 2022 Rumors of Khamzat vs Nate Diaz. Nothing materializes

Sept 2022 Misses weight badly for Nate fight. Reshuffle happens, ends up fighting Kevin Holland instead

2023 Supposed to return mid-year. Nothing happens

Oct 2023 Finally fights Usman on short notice. But the buildup was full of uncertainty

Last year Pulls out first scheduled fight against Whittaker

Now Allegedly fighting DDP… tons of questions, and people are acting like it’s guaranteed?

Every time he’s scheduled, something happens. Visa issues, weight problems, health complications, you name it. Why is everyone so sure this time is different?

So I’m asking. What level of confidence do you actually have that Khamzat makes it to fight night? On a scale from 1 to 10, how confident are you he walks into that cage and this fight really happens?
M

Because I’m at a 2. Maybe.
I think he shows but I think DDP wins. I don't see an option for that so I can't take part in your poll.

Dricus broke his foot in the whittaker fight, things aren't the same silly goose.
Nah, Strickland even made fun of him at a presser joking that he avoided the fight because of a bruised foot or something. Not sure if Dricus ever really said what his supposed foot injury was exactly.

It actually says a lot, and is very relevant.

ok

He came in the US 6 weeks before the fight, i m pretty confident he ll make it to the cage

Not everyone is a sportsbetting degenerate.

I did round off Khamzat's chance to win to 0%. In reality it's actually 0.0001%.

So you think it's degenerate to bet something that you believe has a 99.999% chance of winning and they'll pay you almost double what you'd bet (plus your wager back)? Yeah that's terrific math and makes total sense, bud!

I don't really get the hate for hardcores who watch every event making bets on wonky ass lines or fights that they have a strong opinion on. It works out for profit a lot of time. MMA is really a good sport to bet if you actually know what you're watching and are familiar with fighters.

Casuals probably lose money though, sure.

Gets Covid, and covid isn't "just a cold" - it's serious, fucked up stuff. So you listing that as if it were two things is misleading.

Fights in October 2021. You seemed to have left that out.

Screws up weight cut in Sept 2022, still fights.

Fights in October of 2023. COSTA is the one who didn't make the scheduled fight, with Usman stepping in on short notice. How would any of that be on Khamzat?

Had illness pop up for summer fight with Whittaker, so he pulled out. Fought the rescheduled fight a couple months later and won in spectacularly dominant fashion.

The reality seems quite different than what you are painting.

no you're just impossible, Im not going to waste my time. you win, you've bored me to submission
Mr 32k and his valuable time

You can't understand how turning down a title shot on 2 months notice because of a minor injury (Dricus' own words) is relevant here?

I get you Stan hard for certain men who are unaware of you're existence and would ignore you irl, but I don't think this needs any explaining.

He's struggled with some legit health issues, like a lot of fighters have, and he's addressed weight cut struggles by moving to MW. He's continued to deliver 100% high octane fights for our enjoyment. I say cut the guy some slack. It's not like he had a pseudo seizure back stage, 2 minutes before his walkout.
