I'm not defending the guy. I don't like him. There's little relevant comparison between what Schumer said, with no teeth behind it, and what Mitchy boy said, with a full row of teeth behind it. Vomiting up some hypocritical thing Schumer said in defense of McConnell is really stupid. It looks even worse when considering what Scalia would have likely believed to be the correct thing to do. Talk about dancing on his grave. It's one thing to be rudely happy that Scalia died, but it's another level of ridiculous for them to turn their backs on what he stood for. There's a common theme throughout this incident and the last couple of years on the right- they have completely lost their minds and are wildly throwing themselves around like children, a cartoonish and unwitting parody of everything they claim to hate about the left.

Mitch McConnell said they shouldn't replace Scalia until after the election. Schumer said they should actively block appointments. Ye, those are different.

McConnell is talking about a specific open seat that will be open for more than a year if he gets his way. He is effectively taking the position that a president's four year term is actually only three or less years.

Regardless of Schumer, do you agree with McConnell?

Hey liberals, there's still hope that Obama will get his nomination approved by the Senate.

All he has to do is find the biggest liberal that's female, foreign (preferably with dark skin), and a lesbian, oh and if she's Muslim that's a huge bonus. He'll nominate her with the implied threat of racism, sexism, homophobism, and Ismophobism if they turn her down, reguardless of the actual lack of qualifications. Obama will also say she's a moderate that will call everything down the middle, with no political bias.

The Republican leadership's opposition will bend over backwards to shoehorn her through the Senate questioning, and approval process.

And with the cherry on top, Obama will threaten a government shutown.

No, I don't. It is the President's job to nominate Supreme Court Justices. That is as far as this discussion goes for me.

Good to see you misunderstood what I meant by "retreat". I'm frankly starting to doubt you're as intelligent as you try to pretend you are. Again, the entire way that the Left presents itself is contradicted by the "low voter turnout" argument. So stick with and keep contradicting yourselves, it's fine with me.

This is an odd mess and I'm not sure where to start with it. The best thing the Republicans can do right now is to shut up and actively work for a moderate. Obama will be happy to nominate somebody who isn't too far left. Or they can take their chances in the general election and lose huge.

When has Obama ever 'moderated' on anything? The Republicans have never forced him to. His nomination of a potential judge will be sold as a moderate, that's a guarantee.

After Scalia's funeral and this topic isn't fueled by emotion, Obama will make his pitch of a nominee behind closed doors. He'll get the approval of ever Democrat Senator (does he even need to ask?) and pick off enough Rino Republicans in liberal districts that aren't up for relection in November.

If the Republicans stand strong on this, it'll be one of the very few things they've actually opposed Obama on. I don't think they'll stand strong for an entire 11 months on this. They'll buckle, like they usually do.
