Diego Lopes absolutely worked Jean Silva - Looked worst than it actually was.

Diego worked Silva AND was getting tagged by Silva on the feet, I am very confused about Diego's standup plan. Is this crazy talk, was anyone else nervous Diego was going to go down in the second ?
They both are come forward guys, and Diego especially is willing to eat a blow to give a blow, but that's especially tough with a guy like Silva because of how unpredictable he is. Most of Diego's success came from Silva overextending himself, which led to the takedown, and the elbow at the end.

But when going blow for blow, Silva was landing more, I dont think either guy was intimidated by the other but on the feet Silva was doing better. He just paid big time for getting reckless. The guys he's fought so far dont have the chin to put up w Silva's unorthodox aggression, nor the balls enough to stay in the danger zone long enough to land a shot like that fight ending elbow.

TBH, I don't think anyone does. If Jeans "crazy persona" is just an act, he is an idiot because I bet the replay will show he is actually a really high level killer and absolutely able to cause problems. Now he looks like a bad sport and unstable for real, maybe he can save his image in some follow up videos. Also Diego is the best guy on the ground in the division so surviving the 1st was somewhat positive for Jean I guess. Diego is a fucking granite chinned force but Jean clearly can strike. (The showboating is so stupid and needs to stop)

Well when he came to, he saw Diego say some shit to his coach. I think that's what set him off.

Lopes was maybe buckled once, but he was definitely winning the striking exchanges. Even with the one punch that Silva clipped him, Diego ate it and kept pressuring forward. I don’t think Silva was ready for that kind of pressur e you could see it in his facial expression when Diego kept pressing forward and sticking him with jabs. The last few combinations Silva threw at Diego before getting knocked down didn't land and were sloppy as shown in the gif below. Diego did a good job rolling with the power punches (although he ate a few clean ones like they were cupcakes) and slammed him down to the ground, continuing to ground and pound. Overall, I don't think Silva wasn’t expecting Diego to apply that much pressure, and typically what happens to fighters like Silva as I've seen so many times before is that they start wilting once they become the nail.

Diego said that it was an easy win. The idea that Silva was the favorite just because he beat the likes of Dober, Bryce, and Melsik is quite comical.
I didn't see him winning the striking exchanges, he was starting to get beat up a wearing the shots IMO. Silva was growing in confidence and that led to him eating a big shot.

He was throwing wild looping punches while losing his balance on top of it. Yeah, he was definitely have a good time. The showboating and talking all stopped in the second round. Silva couldn't handle the pressure unfortunately.
His own pressure? Silva was the 1 pressuring landing the big shots before eating a bigger shot, due to getting overzealous with his pressure

Ironically if Silva fought like one, he would’ve most likely won.

He had the clear speed advantage, he should’ve just circled out and countered all fight beating Lopes to the punch.

Should’ve played the point fighting game like manlet Volk

yeah but he can't. look at him, he's a berserker. especially not after that 1st rd, you just know that made him even more aggro for the get back.

but i agree, had he had a little more finesse instead of such a strong urge to finish, he could've avoided getting clipped. i don't think he'd have to point fight, just take a little time to setup his strikes more, move around and trick/frustrate Lopes into giving up his reach etc., i'm surprised he didn't try to work Lopes' body more.

Great fight but these nerds ground game needs work. He was mounted for like 4 minutes. You rarely see that. Lopes surprised silva with his chin I think he surprised most people

I think it’s easier to set mentally unstable dimwits off. When you and your team talk shit all fight week expect to get some back when you get demolished.

Honestly I thought lopes made it look easy I thought there was a point where Silva clocked Lopes good but what I noticed is lopes came forward again and again. I think he realized that if that's what he hits with it won't be enough lopes chin is insane.

I like Diego, but he's a fucking moron if he thinks anyone competent is buying this. Dude scraped by with a hometown stoppage in a back and forth brawl that he was consistently on the wrong side of.
He's begging for that awesome chin to get cracked.

Cliffs:

-Diego said, the punches didn’t hurt.
-said Silva was being overly confident and his punches were sloppy.
-Pressure was getting to Silva.
-said Silva was easy money
-said Silva fought scared and knew it was a matter of time before he would finish him

Diego had me worried there for a second. He definitely was on Queer Street for a second or two

He would’ve been finished earlier if he would’ve have blatantly cheated by grabbing the cage.

Lmao at “hometown stoppage”. Two Brazilians fighting in Texas.

Yeah Jean fought like a rabid pitbull or something, he had spurts of brilliance and then just complete wtf moments. Anytime he’d land a beautiful combo, he’d follow it up with some stupid spinning shit and knock himself off balance or taken down.

He needs someone to wrangle him in… he’s got the talent and drive to be champ.
