fun and exciting fighter for sure.

everyone picked lopes to win because of the volk fight. volk doesnt get enough credit, lopes was just a can after that in the eyes of the casual.... silva had moments, but lopes dominated the first and finsihed in the second. Lopes is a real deal guy. an undeniable top 5 guy. Not sure silva would beat sterling after this.

I never doubted Lopes was the real deal and I had no dog in this fight, I actually never even thought about who would win.

Anyways. What I saw was Lopes brutalizing Silva on the ground in the 1st round but Silva managed to not only survive it but get up on his own accord and even land a sick frontkick right to the jaw with the little time he had left in the round.

The 2nd round? Jean Silva lit Lopes up like a fucking christmas tree and without Lopes insane chin he would've been out of there. Jean Silva then went full retard mode and went full bore forward in complete disregard for what may be thrown back his way and paid the price for it.

What I got from that fight (apart from Lopes being supremely skilled and a savage) is that Silva is good enough to light Lopes up like a christmas tree which is very impressive and an indication that he might be able to fuck pretty much anyone in the division up on the feet.

He has to stop going full retard mode though.

They're still a great gym. Jackson wink has like 3 UFC fighters now, AKA is also past prime. The only gym I suppose that is packed with many top fighters for all these years is ATT.

I don’t get the Silva hate. That fight was entertaining af. Diego has a ridiculous chin. Jean rallied after a brutal 10-8 and was lighting Diego up before getting caught with a spinning elbow. He’ll be back. His audition for a spot in the JBG pantheon went well imo.

I am seeing Jean Silva being the favourite at -280 and this is the first time I disagree with the oddsmakers in a very long time like a decade or something.

Jean Silva has faced paper thin competition an old Dober and Mitchell that is not a good competition. Lopes could have beaten Volk if it was not for Volk´s superior experience but Jean Silva will bring none of that to the octagon. Lopes has an iron chin and will come flying forward like a madman and Jean Silva will find out immediately that he is in a dangerous fight from first 20 seconds. Plus Lopes is lightening fast and has power...
