Rumored Dana: Jones "DEFINITELY Wants Aspinall Fight" - "WILL Happen In Summer"

I'm sure Jones wants the fight ... he probably also wants $30 million.

Same ol' thing.
Jones takes the fight, wins the fight and the same people saying he's a coward will call Tom an overrated bum with very little experience.

They were probably the same saying that he was ducking heavyweights or that he does not to fight people his own size while looking like an overweight dad at 235 lol

You know that when you type shit like this it makes it sound like you think the only MMA fans are a few on this forum that you've cherry picked?

Most fans just want to see the top guys fight each other. If they make this fight I'll be betting Aspinall. I'm pretty confident at this point he's the best HW in the world. But if he loses, what I'll say is "Well Jones did it again. Dude was the GOAT coming into the fight, and he proved why again. And Aspinall doesn't suck and is still elite, but just couldn't get past the GOAT."

Gane is still a decent HW, but that ridiculous robbery he just got vs Volkov shows us that "Okay...he was probably a bit overrated." If Aspinall loses to Jones and then goes out and has a couple stinker performances like that? Well sure, we reassess. If Aspinall loses to Jones and then just goes back to knocking everyone else out? Pretty sure almost everyone will agree that Tom is legit but that Jones was a puzzle he couldn't solve.

Damn. Looks like we're gonna get another year of this shit. Hopefully Aspinal just moves on and defends the interim.

Negotiations sound like they've completed. When this fight gets announced I expect to see a thread with very many apologies to Jon for calling him a scared duck daily for like a year.
Jon is a scared duck. Ducked ngannou and Tom and volkov and blades and the rest of the HWs not over 43.

Negotiating doesn't equal ducking. That's like saying you're ducking doing your job unless you take a low pay from your boss. Oh well, Jones haters never use logic anyway so what am I expecting now.
When you sign a contract to work for your boss then when the time comes to do a specific task for the agreed upon money and you suddenly feel that you need to renegotiate the terms and are not agreeable to anything it's clear you don't want to do that task and your negotiating is just your way of getting out of it.

Why would there be apologies ???

Jon has had a lot to say over the last year that Tom has been interim champ eh?

In none of Jon’s interviews or statements has he embraced fighting Tom. The opposite is true in many cases when Jon presents his many rational for not fighting Tom.

If it happens it will be a surprise.

A couple of weeks until he starts shitting on him, stress will set in soon for the big summer card, Jon will wait as long as possible.

This is re-writing history.

Jon insisted on fighting someone:

- 42 years old
- coming out of retirement
- off a brutal KO loss

We're past the point of duck discussions, he already did it. Dana has now publicly stated Jones will fight Aspinall or no one, while Jon publicly tried to get a 185/205 fighter to meet him at heavyweight for the first time.

Keep in mind, I don't blame Jon at all - the point of prize fighting is make the most money for the least brain damage. It is the UFC's fault allowing a circus fight to happen in the first place.

Either way it is undeniable Jon was trying to fight the easiest opponents, not the #1 contender.

I still wouldn't be surprised if Jones vacates the belt and fights Alex next. If anything, Alex losing may have made a Jones fight more plausible.

I don't think so. This fights intrigue and marketability is about Alex moving up for a 3rd title and champ vs champ. But now that Alex isn't champ, he's not gonna get a direct title shot at HW. And Jones won't go back down to LHW.

Bald idiot, this kind of statement is worthless. What everyone wants to see is the fight scheduled and with a reserve fighter in case Jones doesn't show up.

You don’t think that’s more the UFC hoping to make the bigger money making fight and that’s why you are a joke. You think Jones controls the UFC and it’s matchmaking

This is a fact too because he flat out said a fight with Alex was the only fight "that made sense" for him after the Stipe farce to duck Tom.

Now he has Ank, Tom or vacate and retire after a farce against a retiree no one took serious..... LMAOOO

I know right? but some ppl gonna believe sky is red if Jones says so lol

And if it doesn't? A month ago he was like "Absolutely 100% it happens" now he's only "very confident". I don't like that trajectory
