He's the interim champ and has beaten most Top 10 guys in the division. Why would he keep fighting fighters that are ranked below him when the only fight that makes sense is fighting the so-called HW champion?

Who wants to watch an over the hill Jones beat cherry-picked opponents and hold up the division? Not many. We want Aspinall / Jones. If Jones doesn’t take that fight, he needs to be stripped and Aspinall can fight Pereira if he wins.

LMAO what? Pretty amazing that "no one wants to fight Poatan" given he's the most active champ we've ever seen. They sure are lining up a lot of fights for him given that "no one wants to fight him". Hey, did you know he's fighting again in a couple days!

Meanwhile, Aspinall would open as about a -150 favorite over Jones while Poatan would open as about a +300 underdog. And somehow you think people are more "scared" to fight Alex?

Jones would make a ton either way. Your point about money is the only thing though that holds any truth at all out of what you posted. A fight with Alex might get Jones a slightly bigger payday.

If Tom is told to defend his interim belt again, he should just leave the UFC, it's essentially a humiliation ritual they are making him go through at that point.

Of course his UFC contract will not actually allow him to pursue a livelihood fighting anywhere else...

That's the predicament Tom's in. What do you think would happen if the UFC made Jones vs. Alex for the HW title, and stripped Tom's interim title? What moves would Tom make, go to the PFL and fight Ngannou?
And there'd be fan backlash against Dana, but there was already a lot of backlash over Jones vs. Stipe and that event still sold decently well and the Alex fight would sell way better.

It's weird that Tom is still being treated as the least valuable asset in this situation because he has more years in the game ahead of him than Jones and Alex. Yeah, Jones has his career achievements, but Tom is the best HW of his generation and an even more dominant KO artist than Ngannou.
With Alex I can see the value, but backing Jones over Tom again? They could simply choose to promote Tom to the moon instead of Jones, and save money because Tom will probably fight Alex for less than Jones will.
