Rumored Dana: "Jon Jones WILL Return THIS Summer"

Jon vs Tom is one of the biggest fights they can make. They usually try to make the International Fight Week card one of the best of the year. All arrows point to that's the card they want to put this fight on. It was Conor last year who was scheduled.

Bunch of people being impatient and slamming Saint Jon Jones when they have zero idea what UFC is working on.

The dude fought like 5 months ago. We need to wait another 5-6 months?

His heavyweight "reign" sucks.

Its a cute little argument you're trying there, but it doesn't work like that. Tom at the moment doesn't have the obligation to fight anyone else. Tom already did that by fighting Blaydes. An interim title is only meant to be defended while the actual champion is out. Jon Jones got hurt and Tom won the interim belt and then defended it because Jon Jones was out and then took on a different opponent for a legacy fight.

Tom defended while Jon was recovering and fighting his legacy fight, then Jon fought his legacy fight. All that is done, both guys fought once and now it's time for the two guys to fight and unify. It's not everyone gets a turn and it keeps going.

Plain and simple now, Jon doesnt fight Tom it's a very clear duck. He can chase Perreira all he wants, bottom line it's a duck of the fight that needs to happen.
It's not a cute little argument to point out that Jon would've fought 2x since Tom's last fight if he fights this summer and Tom meanwhile hasn't fought since last summer. Tom would be the one not willing to defend his spot supposedly at the top while Jon is. Why would we strip the active champ for the inactive one?

As to the Pereira situation, I mean there's a pretty clear solution there if Jon really wants to fight him instead of Tom: Tom takes out Pereira himself and forces the issue so that Jon can't even entertain it anymore.

In an ideal world of course Tom should simply be next, and should've simply been next before Stipe. Interim's are supposed to be more active than regular belts: they're there in the interim of the regular belt being active. It's bizzaro world logic to say we must strip the active real champion for the inactive fake interim champion. That's rewarding bad behaviour (Tom's inactivity) and punishing good behaviour (Jon's activity).

I agree try to make them unify but if they really can't while Jon's offering multiple options and Tom's refusing anything but an undisputed fight then strip Tom. He can be #1 contender without his useless belt.

What does that say about Tom then who's meanwhile fighting nobody
That probably sounded better in your head. Id expect UFC would announce Tom’s next fight as soon as they announce Jones’ non-Aspinall opponent. Probably on the same day.

The only thing Tom has waited for since defending his belt is Jones. If Jones doesn’t want to fight him, I’m not sure how that’s Tom’s Fault..

The card should be at the end of June so about 3 1/2 months. Expect the fight to get announced in a month or so.

I’m expecting another layup matchup cherry pick consistent with Gane and Miocic, because we know Jones loves the soft balls.

You're really confusing interim title with a champion given privilege to just cherry pick who they want to fight. No different than Bisping blatantly ignoring Romero and Whittaker back whenever when they gave him 50 year old Hendo and GSP.
Your guys confusion by contrast seems to be giving the title challengers more privilege than the actual champions. If there's no privileges at the top then do away with belts period.

You do this a lot when you have too much vested interest in hating particular champions.
Jones was allowed to cherry pick whomever he wanted regardless if any interim belt was present or not. Any non idiot can see 43 year old Stipe is easily the least risk for the most reward which is right up Jones' alley at this point of his career.
Tom by contrast though totally didn't cherrypick 1 fight win streak Blaydes for truck loads of money in his home town to avenge a loss eh

Jon can defend his belt but Tom can't?

Interesting.

Jon is most definitely waiting to see if Alex Pereira wins and then he’ll ask for that fight (and he won’t be asking for $30M). If Ankalaev wins, Jones retires. Either way, we won’t have to put up with this shit show for much longer. SUMMER 2025

Is Jon really waiting for the result of ank vs pereira to decide whether he wants alex or tom
<36>

If Ank beats Alex Jones will petition even harder for the fight.

If Alex wins Dana will for sure make it happen. Either way the fans are fucked

It doesn't work like that. Tom doesn't have to fight anyone else aside Jones right now, he doesn't have to stay active. He did his job and fought for the interim belt and then 5 months later defended it because Jon was hurt and then took another fight. Jon could have very easily done whats right and fought Tom in November instead of Stipe. So it's not on Tom to stay active now when the fight that needs to be made is right there.

The only talk of Tom taking another fight would be if Jon takes another fight and relinquishes the HW title.

Now, I don't think Jon should be stripped whatsoever. It make no sense considering he just fought in November, it's too early to start talking that. But in the event that this goes on for another few months and Jon is not agreeing to the Tom fight, then he should be stripped if he's not defending his belt.

To your last point. Tom doesn't have to take any other fights now. It's not on him to keep his spot and stay active, he's earned his place. Jon is offering different options, but if Jon goes the other option then Jon needs to give up the HW belt and have Tom fight someone else for the HW title. Which Tom already said he will do, he just wants to fight for the actual HW title.

Aspinall ia the BACK UP PLAN ....... NOT THE PRIMARY.

If Pereria wins I 100 think Bones goes back to LHW for final fight vs Pereria . To retire Champ of Division he owns.

Bones vs Pereria is a MUCH bigger fight and easier fight for Bones only fight that's happened on that level is Khabib Conor.

It's 100 pereria if he beats Ank if not then it will be Aspinall at HW. BUT Pereria v Bones doesn't come around often n hasn't since Conor Khabib you don't miss that when it's there.
