Aspinal is not winning this fight on feet and i doubt he even tries to take Cyril Gane donwn. When Aspinal realizes hes going to get knocked out he will try to change his game plan but its too late. I think Gane finishes him inside 2 rounds. Aspinal is guy who gets hit a lot. Curtis Blaydes hit him few times in both fights and Pavlovich cracked him too. Gane wins this fight and then he loses to Pereira.

Some truly amazing insights here, folks.

"Pavlovich who hits a ton harder than Gane and Blaydes who also probably hits harder landed on Aspinall and he ate them fine, but the lesser puncher in Gane is gonna get the KO."

Brilliant breakdown, no bias at all infused. 🤣

Curtis Blaydes hit him few times in both fights
I guess twice is a few? Blaydes hit him less than 10 times in both fights combined, and if the stats were more accurate, probably just 5. Blayde's striking accuracy was in the 40% mark overall. I mean, that quote statement alone sentence kinda reveals the trolling and/or retardation of this whole thread.

Did Tuivasa have Gane in trouble before? I seem to remember that. Gane peppers people and isn't unhittable. And he's got the grappling defensive IQ of a gnat. It'd really take some poor decision making on Tom's part to make the mistakes you're assuming

Overall yes. Standing though, I would be shocked if he has more to offer to Gane than his 1-2.

Aspinall is faster and hits harder. Gane has better footwork and is more defensively sound. Speed and power often overcome technical deficiencies. Especially at HW because when Aspinall has landed, essentially everyone he's hit has dropped like a sack of bricks and been finished shortly thereafter.

Just went ahead and reviewed both fights in slow-mo, just to break this down.

First fight for Curtis:
-One punch landed to Tom's chest as Tom jumped in
-The swinging follow up left instead landed in Tom's armpit and amounted to a push
-One leg kick that was checked by Tom
-Missed on two 1-2's
-Maybe one right hand either grazing the forehead or missed completely
-One jab to the jaw as Tom was backing up, where his knee blew out when he set down on it. The impact was less important that the force here, because it was the push back that helped cause the knee injury
Literally a single strike with good effect

Second fight for Curtis:
-Misses on two 1-2's
-Misses a jab
-Throws another 1-2, lands good on the jab but misses the right as he was trying to evade Tom's 1-2.
-Lands a short left as Tom chases him down
-Second left hand misses as Tom ducks under and takes Curtis to the cage
-If you want to count Curtis kneeing Tom's knee during the wall-n-stall, be my guest.
-Two jab feints, then another 1-2 that only the jab lands, but the right misses.
-Follow-up overhand misses
-Misses a left hand and Tom puts him down and finishes him.
His 2 best shots were set-up jabs that missed the follow-up.

Even being as gracious as possible, counting punching someone in the chest, the arm pit, a checked kick, a graze at best that might actually have been another miss entirely, and a little knee to the knee while grinding against the fence, you can only give Curtis 9 out of 23 strikes, and only 4 of those had any measurable pop.

If Tommy Boy takes more than 1 minute to KO Gane, I’d call it an underperformance. If Gane actually finishes Tom, then Tom should retire and publicly apologize to Jon Jones. Also, the Jones haters will be on suicide watch.

If Aspinall KO's Gane quickly, that just means that Tom is rushing desperately to get a quick KO because he's worried about his cardio and defensive grappling.

If he takes Gane down and subs him, it's because Tom doesn't trust his striking vs Gane so has to resort to grappling like a bitch.

If he goes the distance and wins he's obviously a bum that couldn't even finish Gane.

And if he loses, he's probably the worst HW in the history of MMA and should retire in shame.

Basically, Aspinall just sucks and this fight will prove it regardless of outcome as I outlined above.

If that happens, it will guarantee Jon vs Alex.
