Being called a liar by millions of people all at once, will make you do weird as fuck shit to try to prove you're not lying.
He was milking it, we have seen way worse, the poke in the other eye looks way worse, but he was alright on that one...then you have his reaction after the DC interview, not covering his eye but he suddenly feels the urge to cover once he sees the camera man, with both eyes open...i mean, it looks like it, we have not seen the mandatory eye picture all bloodied up like others did...no damage to show for, it looks bad.Nailed it.
And yet we STILL have other posters comparing this to friggin Aljo!!! I can't conceive how you'd see that video clip and and still think that Tom was faking it. Some triggered Gane fans or something.
Cool story bro….LONG. TERM.
When I caught an elbow to my eye while grappling, my vision was fucked up for a couple hours. The doctor at urgent care said it might be days (it wasn't, I was good by that night but he said it varies a lot). He also said "from what he could see" there wasn't any long term damage, but if I was having issues with vision or pain after a few days to go back in.
You do understand the difference in long term vs short term, yes?

They are jones retards for the most part. Its not a suprise.Only in mma do fans blame the guy who got clearly fouled and was left injured for not continuing to fight at a complete disadvantage. Gane was warned twice before the eye poke and did it again. Ive sparred for years with mma gloves and never managed to double eye poke someone. The rate of eye pokes in the ufc is due to the gloves but mostly people gaming the system

Understand ur point...but the problem for me is how Aspinall reacted. He rewatched full clip on screen(without any problem), commented on it after he seen it(without any pain noises or twitching). Then he needs to be supported on the way out of cage by security (like his legs are injured)...Then he tolds doctor in hospital that he cannot see any fingers doctor is showing (there was no single problem with his vision during interview) and more...LONG. TERM.

His attituted was simply comical and i dont buy it. U simply dont react like that when u are injured. Compare it to Klein which was basically crying on the stool (for good reason.)
Watching this video we can Aspinal's eye sockets ripple from the force of the eye pokes. What seems to make matters worse is that it wasn't one of those ones where they just "rake" down your face, instead the fingers hit the eyes as Aspinal is moving forward and then push into his eye sockets. The nail on his middle finger (the one that "injured" Tom's right eye) does seem to partially disappear into the orbital socket on the top of the eye, while the nail on the pointer finger hooks down completely and disappears entirely. Aspinal is actually pulling his face back and away as the fingers continue to push forward and in. It's pretty brutal.
Instead of debating whether or not Aspinal was truly injured or not because of damage control from his camp/his dad or what one doctor paid by the UFC said in the cage with a few seconds of investigation, just watch the video and gauge for yourself whether that looks like a bad enough eye poke to temporarily blind you.
If you can concede that it does than all we are debating is if a Champion should risk his career on fighting partially blind because his opponent fouled him severely (multiple times) and didn't even get a point docked. Some will say he should've continued because "that's what fighters do" or "fighter [x] did it with an even worse eye-poke" and if that's your opinion so be it, but I think it's pretty evident to say that based on watching the video it's a bad enough eye poke to temporarily blind someone.
This outcome really sucked because Gane truly had a great game-plan/performance and looked like he had the right style and approach to really give Aspinal fits. He had all the momentum prior to the eye-poke despite what the stats say. It would've been fascinating to see if he could've kept that approach or if Aspinal would be able to adjust and force some in-fighting exchanges or get in on a takedown.
Also , interesting footage of Gane neutralizing aspinall power. Best game I’ve seen in a long time
yeah literaly people here say tom will ko himSaid it before and will say it again.
Gane has the best boxing in the heavyweight division. There is a reason that Francis had to take him down to win a decision.
You're not striking with Gane and coming out without damage. Period.
Yeah because it shows what actually happened. Fast motion or even regular speed you might miss itEverything looks worse in slow motion.
I suspect a lot of people on here don’t know the difference between left and rightLONG. TERM.

I wouldn't say adrenalin pumping in this case. It was clear on Aspinall that he dont wanna even continue. He was not looking for ways how to fix is vision, but for ways how to end fight without losing. Just rewatch sequence where he was eyepoke and where he spoke with ref and doc...I think he played it up, but that doesn't mean his vision wasn't affected. There's also adrenaline pumping in the minutes right in the cage. Then it's over, you're coming down, the pain aspect becomes more a part of it vs only the vision aspect.
There also was a problem with his vision in one eye during the interview. One eye he could see to a degree, the other no. So at the doctor it could've just been that he couldn't see out of the one eye.
The reality is we don't know. And in a title fight, expecting a guy to fight while compromised BECAUSE OF A FOUL BY HIS OPPONENT is ridiculous. Even if he exaggerated how badly it affected his vision, if it did at all I don't blame him for not continuing.

Like dont forget that UFC is still just a bussines and Aspinall is their "investion", investion which did not make them any money for 15 months - and they did not strip him (actually big favor by UFC.) - and after these 15 months of stalling. He literally quit....and he got paid for it. Aspinall should be very careful what will happen next. I dont expect any favors in future, but exact opposite.
Compare it to which Jiri had one "worst shoulder injury" in history and gave up title...even tho he did not really want to. He offered to UFC that he will fight vs Glover with one arm (Commision did not allow this and Whie did not like this idea.). Then told them he will be back under year (unrealistic at the moment). So Jiri gave up title....and came back 11 months later as contender - Jiri was not fully recovered, but was basically pushed into fight with Pereira.
What do you mean."They TOLD him to wait for Jones" I highly doubt that anyone other was not trying to get title shot...Volkov for example, or Gane. Like imagine if Pereira did same in LHW. Aspinall simply stalled whole HW and now he prolonged it by another 4+ months. Thats reality...You lose any credibility when you act like him not fighting had anything to do with him. They TOLD him to wait for Jones and didn't offer any alternative opponents.
His dad's even saying his eye is really bad and closed now.He was milking it, we have seen way worse, the poke in the other eye looks way worst, but he was alright on that one...then you have his reaction after the DC interview, not covering his eye but he suddenly feels the urge to cover once he sees the camera man, with both eyes open...i mean, it looks like it, we have not seen the mandatory eye picture all bloodied up like others did...no damage to show for, it looks bad.
